Supports the monitoring of Safety Programs and works along with the OHS Corporate Team.
This includes duties such as:
- Provide day-to-day support on all Occupational Health and Safety issues.
- Provide expertise, guidance, assistance, and development in areas of Occupational health and safety such as safe work practices, policies, procedures, training as required.
- Identify safety improvements including follow up actions to ensure implementation of identified corrective actions.
This role will support OHS projects as needed, while providing a range of administrative support and assistance essential to the functioning of the Occupational Health and Safety Team.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety standards, laws and regulations.
- Evaluate, assess and implement Occupational Health and Safety practices, policies, processes and tools as required.
- Monitor the workplace to ensure employees follow safety policies and/or procedures.
- Continuously monitor the workplace for hazardous safety and health conditions.
- Complete safety observations.
- Monitor incident metrics.
- Assess engineering controls, administrative controls, and PPE on an on-going basis.
- Ensure OHS hazards are corrected, eliminated or guarded.
- Coordinate and perform safety audits and prepare corrective action plans.
- Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures.
- Participate in accident/incident investigations and corrective action implementation process. Analyze and evaluate accident/incident reports. Support claims management (CNESST) and ensure early and safe return to work for injured employees.
- Prepare and conduct OHS safety related training for employees.
- Organize and attend workplace health and safety meetings and activities.
- Ensure the continuity of the first aid program.
- All other related tasks.
**KEY REQUIREMENTS**
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a health and safety role in logistics and transportation or other related field.
- Experience in CNESST case management (claims management).
- Degree, diploma or certificate program in occupational health and safety related field or equivalent.
- Knowledge of Quebec laws, regulations processes and procedures. Knowledge of applicable HSE regulations, codes, practices and standards.
- Prioritizes work flow to ensure deadlines are met in a fast-paced environment. Adapts to shifting priorities.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Ability to work effectively in a team.
- Ability to multi-task in a multi-office/location organization.
- Bilingual. Fluent in French and English, oral and written.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office. Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook.
