Position Description:
The Departments of Medicine and Surgery are leaders in academic medicine. Our educational and research missions support excellent and innovative clinical programs across our teaching hospitals. The MUHC is one of McGill’s major teaching hospitals affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Canada’s internationally renowned McGill University, located in the vibrant and multicultural city of Montreal, in the province of Quebec.
The MUHC Critical Care Program is highly committed to the pursuit of excellence in clinical care and innovation, research and medical education. Its mission includes as a priority the strategic recruitment of outstanding Critical Care sub-specialists committed to academic medicine. Its members include nationally and internationally recognized clinician researchers, medical educators, and quality care champions. Its clinician teachers are recognized leaders in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and clinical supervision.
The collaborative research efforts of the Division cover a broad range of scholarship initiatives, including educational research, epidemiologic research, and basic and translational research. There is a strong emphasis on research in severe infections and organ injury, cardiovascular pathophysiology and cardio-pulmonary interactions, as well as dysregulated metabolism and skeletal muscle dysfunction during critical illness. There is an active clinical trials program leveraging multiple national and international collaborations. Medical educators are pioneers and innovators in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.
The MUHC Critical Care Program is comprised of internists, surgeons, emergency medicine specialists, and anesthetists representing a multi-disciplinary and dynamic group of sub-specialists supporting the MUHC’s mandate to provide high-quality patient-centered care across its network. Our clinical activities are focused on providing care to critically ill patients with acute and complex disorders through innovations in coordination of care, our commitment to quality improvement and our educational expertise. Areas of particular clinical expertise include advanced cardiovascular care, solid organ and cellular transplantation, complex medical patients, and Level 1 trauma patients. Our critical care training program is a two-year program with 10-14 residents. The training program also includes one-year fellowships in cardiovascular ICU for advanced learners, critical care research and aviation medicine.
Job Duties:

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Hold an MD degree and have completed subspecialty training in Critical Care Medicine;
- Be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent);
- Be eligible for licensure in the province of Quebec and hold certification by the _Collège_ _des_ _médecins du Québec_;
- Have demonstrated accomplishments in line with an appointment as a clinician-scientist or clinician-educator, and clinical experience in a focused interest of the Division in either, but not limited to, vascular and thrombosis medicine, perioperative medicine, medical obstetrics, and complex care;
- Possess strong leadership qualities and a proven academic track-record either in academic basic and/or clinical research or medical scholarship;
- Have experience in clinical service and training of students, residents and fellows;
