**Nasittuq provides Operation & Maintenance services for the North Warning System (NWS). The NWS is a joint Canada and United States early-warning radar system. Nasittuq also provides operation and maintenance support at Canadian Forces Station Alert. Both programs are in support of Department on National Defence.**
**Scope**:
Reporting to the President, the Government Relations Advisor is a newly created position and is primarily responsible for building key customer relationships with new and existing clients, preparing business strategies and advancing growth opportunities for Nasittuq through marketing and meeting people in person. The incumbent will identify, evaluate, and implement projects to grow Nasittuq in the government and defence markets.
**Responsibilities and Accountabilities**:
- Government Relations/Business Development
- Develop business initiations, opportunities and programs that generate and grow our business in defence, facilities and operations management and northern operations.
- Represent and present the company for business development purposes, sell the company vision, business, culture, and value proposition
- Develop initiatives, growth strategies and plans to meet business goals
- Keep apprised of and secure current and potential new business opportunities in Canada primarily in the Government and Defence sectors
- Organize and track all business development activities in a spreadsheet database
- Account/Client Management
- Support relationship management with stakeholders of current key contracts
- Build strong industry partnerships to drive our position and footprint (including sub-contractors)
- Prepare comprehensive presentations and reports and marketing materials that present our value to prospective clients
- Bid & Proposal Management
- Analyze government solicitations such as RFPs
- Analyze RFP requirements, developing outlines and compliance matrices
- Participate in strategy discussions to determine strengths (win themes, hot buttons)
- Prepare and submit bids and proposals, track milestones, manage and coordinate resources, ensuring quality and ensuring bids are submitted on time
- Coordinate internal resources in support of proposal response (ie HR, Contracts, Operations, etc.)
- Market Analysis & Research
- Prepare market analysis to support evaluation of new projects and complete Government and Defence market research as required
- Monitor relevant industry trends and their implications
**Qualifications**:
- Post secondary education in a related technical discipline and a minimum 5 years’ of experience in business development
- Previous Government and/or Defence sector experience
- Knowledge and understanding of business and financial concepts, processes and practices required for making sound business recommendations & decisions
- Knowledge of Inuit Land Claims Agreements and Government of Canada Procurement process considered an asset
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities, with a track record of successful relationship-building.
- Strong relationship-building skills with an ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders and government officials.
- Knowledge of issues, opportunities, and challenges for conducting business within marketplace considered an asset
- Adaptability and ability to manage priorities with attention to detail and work cross-culturally
