About the Role

As a Strategic Governance Advisor in our Investment Strategy and Governance team, you will play a crucial role in supporting staff, management, Pension Fund Trustees, Investment Committees, and other governance bodies in fulfilling their oversight responsibilities over investment and treasury activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive governance framework to ensure effective oversight, decision-making, and accountability.
  • Conduct thorough governance reviews, identify areas for improvement, and recommend enhancements aligned with best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Create policies, processes, and governance documentation to ensure compliance and consistency with governance framework, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate logistics and materials for Trustee and Investment Committee meetings.
  • Provide expert advice on governance and sourcing matters to ensure integrated and transparent decision-making, as well as efficient and effective processes.
  • Research and collaborate with external peers to stay updated on best practices in governance and explore opportunities to enhance existing processes and policies.
  • Lead and oversee all sourcing activities for the division, ensuring adherence to CMHC and/or Pension Fund policies, directives, and guidelines.
Requirements
  • An undergraduate degree in business, finance, or commerce.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant work experience in governance, secretariat, or providing advice and support to a board or executive management.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, including data synthesis and real-time discussion summarization.
  • Proven experience leading reviews and implementation activities.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with ability to interact professionally with internal and external parties at all levels.
