Primary Duties
The incumbent will be assisting with the purchasing and materials management in support of all departments within Utilities Kingston. The duties will include some ordering of materials, shipping and receiving, checking orders against specifications, liaising and communicating effectively with customers and vendors/suppliers, preparing and processing invoices for payment using the appropriate account codes, storage of all materials, maintaining appropriate stock levels and process material requisitions and returns using FMS, loading/unloading trucks, material inspections, stocking shelves, and conducting a variety of plants and other utility locations, snowplowing, and maintaining the overall neatness of the warehouse and storage yard areas. The incumbent may also monitor and ensure appropriate performance and completion of Utilities Kingston maintenance contracts.
Education, Certification and Other Qualifications Required
Completion of a 2-year program from an accredited community college in a field related to the duties of the position, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Proficiency using a variety of Microsoft office suite of products (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required. A valid 'G' Class drivers license is mandatory. Knowledge of procurement, purchasing and warehousing management practices and procedures, and contract administration. Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and safe working procedures. Experience operating a forklift and other heavy vehicles is desirable.
Enrollment in, or completion of P.M.A.C. Purchasing Certificate program will be an asset, as would experience in a technical construction trade, or a utility environment, along with Electrical awareness. CPR and First Aid, WHMIS, and chemical handling training will be considered an asset.
