The University of Alberta Hospital is one of Canada’s leading clinical, research, and teaching hospitals, treating more than 700,000 patients annually from western and northern Canada. The hospital offers a wide range of diagnostic and treatment services, including specialized adult services within cardiac sciences, neurosciences, surgery, medicine, orthopedics, renal, critical care, burns, transplant and trauma inpatient programs as well as a vast number of ambulatory clinics. This position is part of the centralized Rehabilitation and Allied Health Program that will support patients specifically who are within the adult social work team within the adult inpatients and ambulatory programs. There may be opportunities to learn and provide services to a variety of clinical areas on the hospital campus as indicated. The University of Alberta Hospital is centrally located in the capital city, the heart of the academic campus, Old Strathcona and the beautiful river valley. Occasional weekend is required, the schedule may be negotiable, part time positions may afford up to full time hours on a casual basis. As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

**Required Qualifications**:
Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
**Additional Required Qualifications**:
Recent experience in an adult acute care setting within the last 2 years. Possess proven communication skills to work cooperatively and with the health care team members, patients and their families in a fast-paced environment. Strong professional judgment, initiative, and effective time management skills are necessary. Your quality of work must meet departmental and organizational expectations. Demonstrated clarity in your communication, organization and consistency of ideas, both verbally and written, including clinical documentation, is required. Must be highly motivated, confident, and enthusiastic individual with a positive attitude whose work aligns with AHS Values. Able to act quickly and decisively using critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Able to utilize strong judgment by analyzing facts, considering the impact, and arriving at a sound conclusion, seeking counsel when appropriate. You can work independently and as a part of the team creating strong, effective interpersonal working relationships with peers and other caregivers. You are a reliable worker who uses time effectively.
**Preferred Qualifications**:
Ability to work with various computer programs is an asset. Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint are preferred. Familiarity with Netcare, Connect Care are preferred. Master's Degree and authorization for psychosocial interventions are an asset.
