**Benefits Supervisor**

Reporting to Sr Manager, Total Rewards. The Benefits Supervisor oversees Extendicare’s end to end benefits operations, supports the development and execution of benefit administration related strategies, programs, and initiatives.

This position will be located at our Head Office in Markham, Ontario and will have flexibility for both remote and in-office work based on our hybrid work model.

**Accountabilities**

Oversee Benefits Team
- Oversees end to end Benefits administration operations and performance within broad portfolios ( e.g. HomeCare, Corporate, and Residential)
- Manage the day to day benefits, health and retirement plan administration for Extendicare employees to ensure delivery of quality service
- Oversees and ensures t ha t year end activities related to group benefits and retirement savings plans are completed on time
- Audit functions performed by administrators and provide sign off / final review for approvals
- Handle day to day people management responsibilities including performance evaluations, disciplinary actions etc. coordinate workload and schedule of benefits administrators

Strategy and Program Development
- Works with the Sr. Manager to develop and implement activities related to the annual Benefits cycle (e.g.,benefits election)
- Support maintenance and updates to all program, policy, and procedure documentation Benefits Support
- Provide high expertise Benefits functional support for escalated inquiries from the HR Service Center Team
- Leads ( e.g. complex data changes, Ad Hoc Management Reports, change/deviation from standard policy or process)
- Provide accurate interpretation/recommendation for plan changes through research and consultation with appropriate stakeholders

Reporting
- Analyze and provide benefits related data to Sr. Manager, Total Rewards and/or Sr. Director of HR Operations

Vendor Management
- Assist with Vendor Management and contacting third party providers for any exceptions (e.g. insurance refusals, pension inquiries etc.)

Special Projects
- Lead development and delivery of special projects including implementation of new or changes to benefit plans and programs
- Review and analyze current benefits processes, and make recommendations to improve operational efficiency Liaise with Other Teams
- Assist in design of benefits and saving plan programs (provide data to Total Rewards CoEs)
- Assist Labor Relations to obtain benefit/RSP related information for CBA bargaining
- Handles escalations related to benefits

**Qualifications and Experience**
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources or Business Administration or equivalent
- Experience with benefits and pension, and expert knowledge of principles and practices.
- Work collaboratively with others, creating partnerships with management, human resources, and colleagues.
- Proactive and able to organize and prioritize with limited guidance; work independently or within teams to meet deadlines.
- Ability to identify trends and work closely with management and staff to improve data integrity.
- Excellent customer service, analytical and problem-solving skills; and
- Intermediate/Advanced Microsoft Office knowledge specifically including Excel (functions, pivot tables, macros, advanced formulas etc.
- CEBS Benefits Certification preferred.
- Pension Plan Administration Certification (PPAC) preferred.
- Workday experience an asset.
