We are currently recruiting a FT **Fire Lieutenant** for one of our industrial clients located within the Fort McMurray area. This is a fly-in/fly-out role from **Calgary or Edmonton**. The rotation is **2 weeks on/2 weeks off**. The start date for this position is **May 28, 2024.**

**Overall Purpose of the Job**:
Supervises the emergency and non-emergency activities of an assigned fire and rescue team and acts as the Fire Captain in their absence.

**Supervisor Responsibilities**:

- Fulfill the officer responsibilities outlined in the International SOS Fire and Rescue policies.
- Establish work priorities, assign tasks, and coordinate daily workflows.
- Maintain discipline and insure personnel adhere to client and International SOS policies and procedures.
- Encourage and maintain a respectful work environment by demonstrating positive work place behaviour.
- Lead subordinates by demonstrating safe work behaviours in accordance with client and company safety standards and practices.
- Ensure subordinates are compliant with company policies regarding code of conduct, uniform, dress, and appearance.
- Lead internal fire and rescue training, and auxiliary rescue team training (if applicable).
- Assist the Fire Captain with the preparation and delivery of job performance evaluations.
- Participate in the interviewing of new hires.
- Assist the Fire Captain by preparing for, and contributing to the start-of-shift meetings.
- Attend applicable site leadership meetings hosted by International SOS.
- Participate in site-specific leadership training and work supervision programs.
- Ensure International SOS is represented in a positive and professional manner when interacting with the client and other contractors on site.

**Minimum requirements**:

- NFPA 1001 Fire Fighter Level 2
- NFPA 1072 (or 472) Hazardous Materials Response -Operations Level (minimum)
- NFPA 1002 Driver Operator
- NFPA 1002 Aerial Operator (preferred)
- NFPA 1006 High Angle Rescue Technician
- NFPA 1006 Confines Space Rescue Technician (preferred)
- Ice Rescue Technician ( preferred)
- NFPA 1041 Fire Service Instructor Level 1
- NFPA 1021 Fire Officer Level 1 (preferred)
- Incident Command System 100, 200& 300
- Primary Care Paramedic
- registered with ACoP
- CPR
- CSTS
- H2S Awareness
- Fall Protection
- 5+ years relevant industry experience
- Experienced Supervisor
- Experienced fire and rescue trainer/instructor

**Required Competencies**:

- The ability to work effectively with employees, other contractors and the client.

- The ability to act effectively in emergency and stressful situations.
- Strong communication skills, both orally and written.
- Intermediate computer skills that include knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

**Travel / Rotation Requirements**:

- Two (2) weeks on, Two (2) weeks off.
- Work rotations could include working both day shifts and night shifts.
