**Responsibilities**:
The Employer Relations Assistant will implement and enhance the hirewesternuPhD campaign to promote the hiring of PhD students and increase the number of employment and internships opportunities for PhD students. They will also support the Graduate Student Internship Program, including creating and managing internships, and providing timely and knowledgeable support to students and employers.

**Key Accountabilities**
- Operationalize the hirewesternuPhD campaign focused on promoting the value of hiring Western doctoral students for work integrated learning and employment opportunities
- Develop and facilitate targeted employer outreach to various industries and sectors (e.g., call campaign, virtual and in-person consultations)
- Manage student admission to the Graduate Student Internship Program based on academic and non-academic requirements
- Identify paid internship opportunities and promote to graduate students
- Provide support and respond to questions from graduate students and employers before and during internships
- Ensure accurate documentation of all employer interactions and student internships within a shared database
- Promote the hiring of graduate students through events and social media
- Plan and facilitate student and employer events for the hirewesternuPhD campaign and Graduate Student Internship Program
- Post internship and job opportunities to Western students on behalf of employers
- Contribute to other Employer Relations Unit priorities and events as needed

- Tasks are managed carefully and accurately with high attention to detail
- Project plans are well-developed with clearly identified tasks, milestones, resources and dependencies
- Strong, productive relationships with employers, campus and community partners, students, and alumni are built and maintained
- Employer outreach targets are met or exceeded
- High-quality event planning and support for well-attended events by internal and external community groups
- Employers, students and alumni are provided with diverse opportunities for networking with each other to mutual benefit
- Best practices in campus recruitment are communicated to all stakeholders and adhered to

**Professional Qualifications & Education**
- Minimum Required:_
- Completion or current enrollment in a graduate level program

**Experience**
- Minimum Required:_
- Exceptional written communication skills; experience writing content for print, web, and social media
- Excellent oral communication skills; professionalism in communicating with diverse campus stakeholders
- Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple aspects of a project concurrently
- High attention to detail
- Awareness of current trends impacting graduate students and their career outcomes
- Awareness of graduate students’ career interests and needs
- Proven ability to set and work to deadlines

Preferred:

- Experience in the employment or recruitment industry, including sales experience, job search strategies, corporate recruiting of university students, or working with career services, human resources, or other management functions
- Experience managing client relationships with global and national corporate and community-based organizations
- Experience in marketing, business development and sales
- Experience in event planning

**Knowledge, Skills & Abilities**
- Strong relationship development skills with proven ability to assess needs, handle objections and recommend solutions to clients both in person and on the telephone
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with a demonstrated ability to be persuasive
- Exceptional organizational skills, including managing multiple projects and an ability to adapt quickly to emerging priorities
- Engaging presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
