Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a
**Team Lead, Health and Safety**.

Reporting to the Director of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), the Team Lead, HSE Systems will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the Halifax Shipyard HSE Process execution.

**Qualifications**:

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent years of HSE leadership experience
- Experience: 5-10 years of safety management experience in a fast-paced industrial environment
- Strong leadership experience
- Strategic thinker and effective decision maker
- Ability to multi-task and switch priorities as required
- Strong hands-on management skills and strong conflict resolution skills
- Effective communicator - verbal and written
- All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)._

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Review and update as required, existing HSE policies, programs and procedures in consultation with key stakeholders and the Joint Occupational Health and Safety (JOHS) committee
- Provide ongoing support as required to management in the effective execution of HSE programs and initiatives

- Responsible for the accuracy of the Incident Data Base and the generation of required reports and balanced scorecards
- Manage all incidents to ensure proper investigation and root causes are arrived at with proper corrective actions implemented
- Ensure effective execution of the Environmental Management System
- Review, monitor and evaluate Contractor Safety Programs and provide ongoing HSE support
- Project Management and Contractor liaisons
