Please note that effective February 12, 2023 mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations are no longer required as per the Niagara Region’s amended COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. **Job Summary**:
Reporting to the Director, Social Assistance and Employment Opportunities, this role is accountable for the development and execution of the implementation plan for the Niagara Region Poverty Reduction Strategy. The role will establish and manage relationships with community agencies, local planning bodies, other orders of government, consumer and other stakeholders to establish local priorities, support implementation of actions, and monitor outcomes. The role will develop systems of engagement that will support community ownership and participation in the strategy.

**Education**:

- Post-secondary degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, or a related field (i.e. Sociology, Evaluation, Business/Public Administration, etc.), or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Courses or certification in community engagement principles preferred

**Knowledge**:

- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Human / Social Services environment, working with issues of poverty and/or homelessness
- Experience working collaboratively with multiple community partners to improve service to clients
- Knowledge of community services, social assistance delivery systems and social policy issues
- Strong communication, presentation, and facilitation skills required
- Knowledge of project management techniques/software, facilitation tools, and stakeholder engagement, media relations, and consultation principles and techniques
- Strong research, analytical and computer skills

**Responsibilities**:
**_ Project Management and Regular Reporting (30% of time):_**:

- Aid in the development and implementation of a comprehensive Niagara Region Five Year Poverty Reduction Strategy
- Work with existing stakeholders to develop awareness of poverty reduction and elimination strategies, resources, and capacity
- Assist with the development and implementation of Calls for Proposals
- Coordinate the establishment of a single, common monitoring report to track key poverty indicators
- Identify measures to assess the effectiveness and success of the implementation of the poverty reduction implemented initiatives
- Prepare reports for the province, regional council and standing committees
- Lead all project management functions which includes; internal and external communication, work plans and stakeholder engagement
- Work with relevant agencies to measure performance and impact on poverty reduction and elimination
- Ensure internal coordination of departments and resources

**_ Establish and maintain governance structures that will support the implementation of a Five Year Niagara Region Poverty Reduction Strategy (20% of time):_**:

- Establish a regional planning working group and local planning groups as appropriate to coordinate planning efforts in support of the Poverty Reduction Strategy
- Develop a formal terms of reference for the core advisory group
- Establish accountabilities of roles and reporting linkages for the Poverty Reduction Strategy
- Establish and define a coordinated, community-based engagement model and its recommended actions and clarify governance structure that will support the implementation of the Poverty Reduction Strategy
