- Temporary Full TimeApplications are now being accepted for a Paitent Flow Navigator. Reporting to the Director Inpatient and Emergency Services, the Patient Flow Navigator will coordinate patient access and flow of the Admission Discharge Unit to ensure all patients are admitted and discharged are referred to the most appropriate services for their clinical needs, and resolve patient flow issues as they arise. The position has an expected contract **end date of March 31, 2024. **Hours of work are Monday-Friday 7am-3pm.

**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS**:
**Facilitates the effective flow and/movement of patients throughout the organization by**:

- Understanding and acting on the corporate priority of ensuring timely time-to-inpatient bed targets, and emergency department length of stay targets related to patient wait times and funding implications.
- Understanding the process for assigning inpatient beds to patients and managing bed placement with forward-thinking strategies to prevent bed placement delays.
- Facilitating the admission, discharge and transfer of patients to/from Admission Discharge Unit in collaboration with all hospital services including the admitting and emergency departments and with the most responsible staff nurses (charge nurses/MRP’s)

**Facilitates the effective utilization of staffing resources throughout the organization by**:

- Understanding all corporate programs and services
- Understanding the staffing ratios for all clinical programs and support services and the variability of these ratios.
- Understanding and effectively administering the various Collective Agreements that govern staff across the entire hospital
- Effectively coordinating staffing resources according to patient and staff safety

**Supports the on-going development of effective and efficient program teams by**:

- Facilitating regular communication with the staffing teams to ensure the effective flow of communication through the Admission Discharge Unit and program and services across the organization
- Providing leadership to multi-disciplinary team with potential solutions and feedback regarding opportunities for improvement

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Bachelor's Degree required - healthcare-related field preferred.
- Master’s degree considered an asset.
- Minimum 2 years leadership experience, preferably in a hospital supervisory/managerial capacity
- Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills as well as the ability to manage and resolve conflict
- Proven ability to effectively multi-task and prioritize in a stressful fast-paced customer service-oriented environment
