iKids Montessori Academy is looking for a Child Care Cook
**Requirements**:
- Up-to-date Food Safe Handling certificate
- Clear vulnerable sector screening
- Standard First Aid & CPR-C (preferred)
- Up-to-date Immunization record and 2 step TB test
- Previous experience in a childcare centre/school (asset)
- Good English - written and oral communication
**Kitchen Staff** at iKids Montessori Academy play an important role in providing nutritious meals and maintaining a high-quality kitchen environment. Working independently, the **Kitchen **staff will ensure that all Health & Safety standards are met and maintained as well as meeting the needs of children for mealtimes. Must have up to date Food Safe Handling certification.
**Job Duties**
As a Child Care Cook, you will perform some or all of the following duties during your employment with iKids Montessori Academy:
- Knowledgeable with all health regulations governing food safety within an early learning environment
- Create shopping lists (for food order company) as well as shopping for the present menu
- Weekly or Bi-weekly shop for food (extra hour of pay, as well as pre-paid food allowance/reimbursement)
- Preparation of Morning and Afternoon snack as well as lunch for all classrooms
- Check and record temperatures for food (prior to service), refrigerator/freezer and dishwasher temps to ensure compliance
- Organize dishware to meet the number of children in each classroom for mealtimes
- Accommodate children with Allergies or Food Restrictions with alternative substitutes when needed
- Unpack and properly store all food and consumables
- Ensure all food is labelled with date of opening, including expiration date
- Conduct housekeeping tasks to maintain the kitchen including mopping, wiping down counters, cleaning the refrigerator, changing garbage
- Removing any food or consumables that are past their expiration date
- Wash and sanitize all dishware used by classrooms for each meal
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with families and co-workers
- Maintain positive and open communication when interacting with all parents and professionals at iKids
- Acknowledge and comply with all centre policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time

- There is also a possibility for increased hours for staff lunch coverage (on an as needed basis)_
**Job Type**: Part-time
**Salary**: From $18.00 per hour
