**Duties**:
The Wellness & Alt Media Advisor works closely with the Director to identify service needs, research, develop, design, market and roll-out service and education initiatives as they relate to student wellness and accessibility. This role ensures that students (tri-campus) have access to alternate formats of classroom materials and textbooks, based on their disability needs, in a timely manner. The role also supports document formatting and forms development supporting the Director’s various teams.

**Wellness**:

- Designs, organizes, and implements groups information sessions and outreach.
- Research service need and works with the Director to identify service opportunities, understanding purpose and audience.
- Researches provincial comparator and best practice activities and liaises with relevant parties for group design.
- Determines and organizes marketing options - contacts for plasmas, social media, residence, UR SLC, College spaces.
- Purchases supplies and materials within established budget.
- Acts as a liaison between Student Wellness and other services such as Student Success Facilitators, program coordinators, healthy campus, placement students, faculty, Rights and Responsibilities Officer, Marketing, Student Association.
- Organizes group efforts, i.e., works with students on various events (Gym Buddies, Healthy Campus, placement students). Supports role clarification, responsibilities, actions in support of event planning, and provides feedback.
- Organizes Student Wellness staff for various events and groups.
- Leads training champion for Therapy Assistance Online (TAO).
- Provides detailed step by step teaching and training to staff on TAO and Student Wellness initiatives (e.g., promotion of groups, banana campaign)
- Develops and delivers presentations for Wellness, researches existing campus options and resources - e.g., Orientation and Smart Start.
- Presents disability education, wellness campaigns, wellness in-service and awareness events, workshops, and information sessions.
- Works with Accessibility Advisors from the other campuses and the Director, incumbent coordinates tri-campus transition programs and outreach materials (i.e., transition to post-secondary, transition to employment, campus orientation) for students with disabilities.
- Creates awareness and marketing materials relating to services, disability issues, mental health, and holistic wellness. Other project, initiative, and organizational/administrative support as assigned by the Director.

**Alt Media**
- Liaises with academic schools, publishers, bookstore staff and external alternative print format service providers such as Alternate Education Resource for Ontario (AERO) to acquire accessible electronic versions of textbooks and classroom materials.
- Scans print materials and converts to digital formats as needed.
- Maintains databases to catalogue and store alternative format holdings and technology.

**Qualifications**:
**Education and Experience**:
A minimum of a 2-year diploma in related field (Information Technology, Education, Disability Studies). Mental Health training and training in supporting individuals in distress and/or suicide intervention an asset.

**Physical/Work Environment Essential Requirements**:
The successful incumbent must have the ability to report to the work location or work temporarily from a remote location with reliable internet access, as approved by the College and in accordance with the college’s Telework Policy.

**Salary & Terms**:

- **Hours per week**: 24
- **Start Rate**:$31.78/hour, plus 6% in lieu of vacation.
