**POSITION**: GRANTS OFFICER
**HOURS**: 35 HRS PER WEEK
**TERM**: PERMANANT
**REPORTS TO**: SUMAS FIRST NATION GENERAL MANAGER
**PURPOSE & SUMMARY**:
**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Complete renewals and reports for government, private funders and other First Nations supporters.
- Develop clear and concise ‘letters of inquiry’ that align with specific funder interests.
- Seek and identify potential funding partnerships.
- Research new funding opportunities that may align with SFN’s interests and project goals.
- Provide outstanding stewardship for foundation and corporate funders ensuring reports and other updates and requests are completed on or before any requested due dates.
- Work with Department Managers to prepare proposal budgets, obtaining clarification of grant requirements from funders and providing any other documentation requests.
- Obtain quotes from external contractors in accordance with project requirements.
- Maintain ongoing networking relationships with funders and funding organizations.
- Monitor grants for financial and program compliance.
- Monitor and develop grant workflow processes, forms, templates, reports and data to ensure full compliance.
- Work with Department Managers to monitor grant income and program goals.
- Ensure Department Managers are aware and knowledgeable of upcoming funding through open communication and up-to-date funder lists.
- Meet with Department Managers to discuss grant opportunities, goals and project requirements.
- Work with Department Managers to ensure all funding project objectives are carried out in accordance with grant requirements.
- Spearhead the development of a grants database system for tracking purposes for future use.
- Coordinate with Department Managers to ensure that funding revenue is allocated to the correct program areas.
- Other tasks as required.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Minimum requirement of an Undergraduate Degree in a related field from a Post-Secondary Institution.
- Formal Grant and Proposal writing experience, with an emphasis on budgeting and project management.
- Formal training in drafting professional correspondence.
- Experience in reaching agreements in business arrangements, Government and legal contractual matters is an asset.
- Experience working for or with First Nations Organization.
- Good time/ resource management skills
- Knowledge and understanding of Sumas First Nation recruitment and selection
- First Nations descent is considered an asset.
Pay: $50,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
