**Role Responsibilities**:
The Wetlands Technical Advisor position supports the Wetlands Team Lead in the provincial implementation of the Alberta Wetland Policy and overall provincial wetland management program. This position will support the review, evaluation and reporting outcomes of the Alberta Wetland Policy, recommendations of the Auditor General of Alberta and the responsibilities of the department. This position will be responsible for stakeholder engagement and communication, document management, updating directives, tools and guides under the Alberta Wetland Policy including working with regional offices, the Alberta Energy Regulator, and other ministries as necessary.

This position will also support the Alberta Wetland Rapid Evaluation Tool Technician in providing technical services to stakeholders requesting a relative wetland value determination in order to meet the requirements of the Alberta Wetland Policy. The position will also support the Wetland Replacement Specialist in delivering the Wetland Replacement Program.

**Qualifications**:

- University degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental/Natural Resource Law, Wetland Ecology, policy development or a related degree supplemented by a minimum of 4 years of directly related experience in Wetland management.
- **Equivalencies will be considered.**

**Equivalency**:Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year education.

**Required**:

- Effective communication skills - verbal, non-verbal, written, interpersonal and management skills.
- Proven skills in problem solving, decision-making, conflict resolution and facilitation/mediation.
- Issues management
- Manage information flow and maintain awareness of provincial issues to ensure that resolution actions do not negatively impact or contradict the outcomes of other related issues or program initiatives.
- Knowledge and/or experience with policy development and operational planning theories, methodologies, principles and techniques.
- Experience with performance measurement and reporting theories, methodologies, principles and techniques, including applicable government policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of public administration practices and paradigms.
- Knowledge of functions, structures and systems of municipal, provincial and federal governments.

**Assets**: Preference will be given to incumbents with more than 5 years of related experience along with 4 years of related education.
