The Position
We are currently seeking a Wetland Ecologist to join our team based out of our Edmonton or Whitecourt office. This is a full-time permanent position that is focused on wetland surveys, regulatory applications and related projects. Project work is remote, team-based, safety-driven and is completed for the energy and forest sectors throughout the province.

With offices in Edmonton and Whitecourt, and operations throughout the province of Alberta, Woodlands is growing our proud team of professionals to provide our customers with innovative technologies and working solutions. All work positions are vital for our safe operations, delivering value to our clients, and maintaining our leadership position in environmental and ecological restoration services.

Position Accountabilities
  1. This position is accountable for safe and efficient project work.
  2. Design and complete field assessments and studies related to vegetation and wetlands.
  3. Summarize, evaluate, and report on vegetation and wetlands data.
  4. Prepare wetlands regulatory applications.
  5. Lead and manage project deliverables and working relationships with Woodlands’ peers, management, and clients.
Position Requirements and Qualifications
  1. Knowledgeable in current best management practices and regulatory requirements for wetland assessments and applications.
  2. University Degree or technical diploma is required in Environmental, Earth Science, Forestry, Biology, Engineering, Geomatics, or Surveying.
  3. Experience as an Authenticating Wetland Professional.
  4. Ability to demonstrate leadership, quality, safety, and customer service focus.
