Medical Laboratory Assistant/technician or Medical

Brampton Clinics is looking for an experienced Medical Laboratory Assistant who shares our passion to deliver the best possible care to our patients.
The Medical Laboratory Assistant demonstrates knowledge and skills in the clinical care of patients. This position reports to the Clinical Manager and takes direction from the physicians. The position is responsible for the daily completion of patient examinations and procedures with the physicians, and blood draws for patients. This individual is critical to the fast paced daily workflow to ensure patients are best prepared for. As a Medical Laboratory Assistant, you will work autonomously to provide every patient with a positive experience while conducting medical health screenings and tests. Delivering excellent patient care, acts as a resource for patient information and strengthens the relationship between the patient and our medical facility. The position places a significant emphasis on excellent customer service skills, teamwork and ongoing development.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Current Medical Laboratory Technician Certificate Current BCLS will be an asset 1-2 years Medical Laboratory Assistant experience Proficient in computer/knowledge of EMR Infection Control, exceptional bedside manner, organized, strong attention to detail, quality focused Maintain strict confidentiality for all patient and clinic information Excellent customer service skills, exhibiting courteous, compassionate, and respectful treatment of patients and caregivers Effective communication skills and the ability to work well with a team in a fast-paced environment Ability to work some Saturdays as required by clinic.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Medical Laboratory Assistant is fully trained on and responsible for conducting the following medical health screenings and tests:
Patient verification Perform Point of Care testing as trained ex. Rapid testing Provide chaperone duties as required Input patient demographic and medical information into EMR Perform ad hoc venipuncture Specimen collection as outlined in each medical requisition Preparation and packaging of specimen for pick up and transportation to processing site Maintains an organized and clean work area based on health laws and guidelines of the medical organization Other laboratory and administrative duties as required Additionally, the Medical Laboratory Assistant will:
Engage in constructive problem solving with others in the practice as problems arise Attend and participate in team meetings Be an engaged team member demonstrating collaboration, inclusion, reliability, punctuality, and adaptability to new and changing situations
