The Information Technology team is looking for a new IT Security Specialist to play a pivotal role in supporting the needs of our Service. **About the Role - How you will Contribute to the Service**:
Reporting to the Senior Systems Engineer (Team Lead), the IT Security Specialist is an essential member to safeguarding the Service’s information system assets by identifying and solving potential and actual security problems. The role works with project teams, technology users and technology staff to ensure security is included in system design and implementation. In addition, the role recommends, installs, and manages systems and processes to ensure the security of the Service’s information technologies. Finally, the scope of the role expands to analyzing and responding to cyber security threats, submitting recommendations for approval to security posture threats within the Service and educating users about maintaining cyber security within their workstations.
What you will be responsible for:
- Performs technology security risk reviews. Recommends and implements solutions.
- Researches and recommends design, implementation of IT security systems and policies.
- _Performs system penetration/ethical hacking tests, as required._
- Produces regular reports on organization’s security posture and remedial action required.
- Protects systems by defining access privileges, control structures, and resources.
- Implements and maintains systems to prevent, detect, and react to IT security threats.
- Recognizes problems by identifying abnormalities and reporting violations.
- Implements security improvements by assessing current situation, evaluating trends, and anticipating requirements.

Note: The successful applicant will need to pass a background check to the satisfaction of the Service which will include reference checks with previous employers, verification of educational achievements, driving record and a criminal background screen. The role will require flexibility with respect to hours of work and may be called upon to provide services and expertise outside of core business hours.

**Salary Range: $82, 133 to $90, 916**
