Autism Nova Scotia delivers programming in Halifax and in nine communities across Nova Scotia through our Regional Autism Centers. Our three program divisions are: Social & Community Inclusion; Employment Support; and Family and Caregiver Support.

**EMPLOYMENT COACH**

**Term**:Full-time; 40 hours per week (Flexible schedule required; Evenings and weekends may be required)

**Start Date**: ASAP

**Position location**: Halifax Regional Municipality, NS

**Salary**: $20 per hour

**What you’ll be doing**

The Employment Coach position will involve working directly with adults on the autism spectrum in an employment setting. The Employment Coach helps transition and support employees in their job and assists them in setting up the structure they require to succeed in the position. This job involves maintaining contact with autistic employees and their employers, as well as maintaining up to date records of progress on the job site.

**You must have**:
**Minimum qualifications**:
Postsecondary education or equivalent experience in a related field accepted and considered an asset.

Clear, current Criminal Records Check (required)

Clear, current Child Abuse Registry Check (required)

Current CPR and First Aid Certification (considered an asset)

**Minimum experience**:
Knowledge and experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum or other developmental disabilities, and/or experience in supported employment.

**Minimum skills and ability**:
Ability to support adults in an employment setting

Passionate about inclusion in the workplace

Ability to work independently in a variety of employment settings

Resourcefulness in solving problems

Strong organizational skills, analytical skills, and keen attention to detail

Strong time management skills

A high-level of professionalism and judgment regarding employer/employee relationships

**Duties & Responsibilities**:
To adhere to all Autism Nova Scotia policies and procedures including those identified in the Code of Conduct

Provide positive role modeling to supported employees

Provide knowledge and expertise in autism to employers and the community

Provide regular and timely coaching support updates to the Employment Coaching & Supports Coordinator

Collaborate and consult with the Employment Coaching & Supports Coordinator to assure exceptional support is delivered and issues of support-gaps and accessibility, accommodation and adaptations are highlighted and addressed

Other duties as required

**Essential and Other Related Job Duties**:
A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation

Must be willing and able to work outside of standard week hours
