**Communications Specialist**

Full time position starting January 2023

Ideaspace has an immediate opening for an experienced communications professional to act as Communications Specialist on a range of client and company projects.

Ideaspace specializes in leading public sector and non-profit organizations to have a positive social impact within communities. We are a Vancouver-based team of strategic, creative communication and engagement specialists providing expertise to our clients in strategic communications, innovative community and stakeholder engagement, policy and program development, behaviour-change marketing, custom training programs, and strategic planning.

Our work is diverse, dynamic, and spans across a broad range of areas including social housing, Indigenous housing, public health, youth initiatives, public infrastructure, and sustainability initiatives related to wastewater, drinking water, and air quality.

**Position Summary**

As the Communications Specialist, you will work primarily out of our downtown Vancouver office, acting as project lead to deliver consistent high quality and professional client service in a fast-paced and challenging environment. You have outstanding writing skills, are personable, hyper-organized, and willing to do what it takes to get the job done.

This position is 37.5 hours/week with some evening and weekend work required.

**Core Responsibilities**
- Research, plan, develop and implement communication and engagement strategies to support client projects, programs, events, and campaigns
- Plan, structure, write, edit, and produce documents of all kinds including fact sheets, reports, newsletters, presentations, video scripts, displays, web copy, social media, news releases, and other publications
- Develop, monitor and evaluate digital strategies for client projects
- Oversee research to support policy or program development and stakeholder engagement initiatives
- Contribute to the planning, writing, and assembling of proposals and business development activities
- Perform administrative and other related job duties

**Qualifications/Skills**
- University or college level graduation in communications, public relations, English or other relevant discipline supplemented by formal business training
- Minimum five years’ experience of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with extreme attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to translate technical, complex information into clear, plain language
- Demonstrated experience with graphic design, web design and / or video production
- Proven ability to meet deadlines, fulfil client requests on short notice, work on multiple tasks and adapt to change
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, G Suite, Adobe
- Public sector experience and knowledge of municipal, regional or provincial government projects would be an asset
- Previous experience in hospitality, customer service or an agency setting is an asset
- A valid BC Driver’s License is required
