Morrison LLP is a growing law firm located just south of Sherwood Park Freeway off of Argyll Road in Edmonton. We primarily practice family law, but also deal with real estate, estate planning and civil litigation.

**Job description**

Morrison LLP is seeking a legal assistant to support our family law practice area. We are looking for someone with 1-3 years of experience as a legal assistant, and/or a legal assistant/paralegal diploma. For the right person, there may be opportunities to grow and expand into other areas of law.

Your roles would be:

- Preparing and processing a variety of documents from lawyer’s dictation, written instructions or verbal instructions
- Preparing letters, memos, reports and outside counsel retainers
- Preparing pleadings and other court documents such as briefs, orders, books of authorities, factums, affidavits, responses to undertakings and trial binders
- Preparing briefing notes
- Maintaining and organizing electronic and paper filing system, calendars and diary system
- Arranging appointments, scheduling meetings, making travel arrangements
- Utilizing research tools to pull and cite various cases and statutes
- Effectively manage and organize legal files and documents in preparation for court proceedings
- Communicating with current and prospective clients as required
- Other duties as required

Schedule:

- Full-time, 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday

**Experience**:

- Legal Assistant: 1 - 3 years (preferred)

To succeed in this role you will need to pay attention to detail and demonstrate an ability to encourage others and work as part of a team. You must also be able to work independently and handle a high volume workload for multiple lawyers while meeting necessary deadlines and ensuring high quality standards are met. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required. Experience in Litigation, Adobe programs, and legal research are considered assets. You will also be expected to learn to use specialized legal software such as Childview and Clio.

**Salary**: From $18.00 per hour
