**Interfacility Critical Care & Aeromedical Transport Education Manager**

Reporting to the Director, Learning and Development, the Critical Care & Aeromedical Transport Education Manager is a critical leadership position, accountable for promoting excellence in education and practice relating to the complex operational context of critical care, aviation operations, inter-facility transfer and care in special circumstances.

This role is critical in ensuring that BCEHS meets its mandate to provide reliable, accessible, high quality out of hospital and inter-facility care and supports learners and existing clinical staff in developing and maintaining the skills and education necessary to provide effective evidence-led care in a range of modalities.

The Critical Care & Aeromedical Transport Education Manager will develop curricula, education programs, systems of practice education and clinical governance structures that support the aims of continuous clinical improvement and align with the Quintuple Aim. Further, the post holder will lead knowledge translation from theory to practice and ensure that education programs reflect best practice and are evidence-based, high-quality and supported by available technologies and resources.

As a clinical leader, the Critical Care & Aeromedical Transport Education Manager will collaborate with a wide variety of stakeholders inside and outside BCEHS, including practice educators, regulators, licensing boards/colleges, educational institutions, operational, clinical and professional leaders to identify desired practice outcomes; develop, implement and monitor work plans/projects; and supervise programs of education, operational model development, practice education and project teams.

This role will function as a systems leader and will be responsible for providing leadership, consultation and direction for practice education across various clinical license levels within BCEHS, including paramedics, nursing staff and physicians. This includes liaising with clinicians, leaders and stakeholders as well as representing BCEHS in decision-making forums. The post holder may represent BCEHS education on a provincial, national and international basis at various forums.

**What you’ll do**
- Engages with various stakeholders internally and externally to inform the mission and mandate of aeromedical and interfacility transport clinical services, with a particular focus on representing the views of patients, Indigenous Communities and the wider rural and remote context.
- In collaboration with operational and clinical leadership functions within the organization, participates in and informs organizational policy and decision-making based on best available data using a range of qualitative and quantitative evidence.
- Supervises Practice Education relating critical care & infant transport team education and interfacility / aeromedical transportation, prioritizing and assigning work, reviewing performance and recruiting staff for this role. As a senior member of the Learning team, assists with the recruiting and orientation of other professional and administrative staff.
- Works collaboratively with colleagues across organizational functions and other stakeholders (ie BC Children’s and Women’s Hospital) to identify clinical education needs and priorities, and individually or as leader of a team, plans, implements and evaluates strategies to meet those needs.
- Responsible for assuring the development and updating of resources to deliver and support education in order to assure staff development and competency.
- Contributes to the overall leadership of education by fostering a climate of continuous learning, participating in the identification of Quality and learning goals and objectives and recommending new initiatives.
- Participates in patient and stakeholder engagement to ensure representation of patient experience and expectations in line with the Quintuple Aim. Further, gathers, evaluates and integrates student and learner feedback into programs of education and clinical support.
- Develops specific proposals for internal and external funding to meet practice education needs.
- Participates in research to establish and develop ‘best practices’ in education and integrates best practice models from other organizations, as appropriate, related to advanced practice education.
- Performs other related professional duties as required.

**What you bring**

**Qualifications**:

- A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a master’s degree in Advanced Clinical Practice, Critical Care, Education (Adult Education, Education Leadership) or a related field, plus five (5) years of clinical experience in health or pre-hospital care.
- Must possess or be eligible for (by the time of commencing role) Critical Care Paramedic licensure with the Emergency Medical Assistants Licensing Board (EMALB) of British Columbia.
