**The opportunity**:
St John’s College at The University of Manitoba is looking for a Marketing and Communications Officer. This position is responsible for the College’s marketing and communication activities, including creating and disseminating information to a variety of internal and external stakeholders (academic and support staff, U of M campus, alumni, and local community) regarding the College’s programs and events, including but not limited to student recruitment, marketing for Residence and Food Services, preparing publications, updating social media, and participating in coordinating community outreach. The Marketing and Communications Officer also collaborates directly with the Development Office to assist with and develop effective communication with our donors and alumni.

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:

- Undergraduate degree in a related discipline (Marketing and/or Communications fields) required.
- Specific training and/or experience in graphic design, photography, social media, website design and content management systems are considered strong assets.
- One year of experience required. - Familiarity with a post-secondary environment, community engagement and special events preferred.
- Experience with, digital cameras, and the ability to work in a diverse, collaborative environment required.
- Knowledge of website management software is an asset. Knowledge of St John's College is an asset.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal, comprehension) required.
- Strong project management and time management skills required.
- Print management and photography skills are required.
- Strong collaboration and facilitation skills required.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Acrobat Professional and Microsoft Office are required.
- Must be creative, organized, and detail oriented.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team in researching, developing, proofreading, and editing, producing, and distributing promotional materials.
- Ability to take initiative, plan and implement marketing communications projects and events required.
- Must be able to prioritize workload, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and work under mínimal supervision.
- Ability to negotiate and purchase ad placements an asset.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
