Position Description:
The Na’tsa’maht Curriculum Teacher Coordinator K-12 reports to the District Principal/Vice-Principal of Na’tsa’maht Indigenous Education and is a collaborative member of the Indigenous Education Teacher Team. They are a respected cultural practitioner of Indigenous values and traditions who works closely with the Curriculum Transformation Team in order to effectively support professional learning for educators in our schools. Responsibilities include:

- Coordinating, facilitating and tracking the Elder in Residence, Indigenous Education Department Role Model Program K-12 across the district
- Providing district, school, and classrooms support to enhance and enrich culture and language including important Indigenous-focused cycles and dates
- Organizing and presenting workshops, collaborative planning, demonstrating lessons, co-teaching, and facilitating virtual presentations
- Supporting the implementation of BC Ministry of Education curriculum and the First Peoples Principles of Learning
- Recommending and building educator knowledge around the implementation of authentic curricular resources
- Supporting school/teacher inquiry reflecting the Principles of Learning, Equity in Action and Na’tsa’maht Enhancement Agreement Goals
- Facilitating teacher network meetings
- Presenting to various stakeholder audiences
- Building and maintaining strong relationships within the Indigenous and Education communities resulting in positive outcomes for Indigenous students
- Performing other related duties as assigned by the District Principal/Vice-Principal of Indigenous Education
Preferred Qualifications:

- Minimum of five years teaching experience
- Master’s degree in Leadership or Curriculum with an Indigenous focus
- Experience designing and implementing cross-curricular Indigenous themed projects and events
- Experience that demonstrates an understanding of cultural protocols and professional boundaries when working with Indigenous communities
- Experience and understanding how the First Peoples Principles of Learning and Indigenous perspectives are embedded with the BC curriculum and competencies
- Recent, successful classroom inclusive classroom teaching experience working both on and off-reserve Indigenous students
- Oral and written fluency in an Indigenous language would be an asset
