**COUNSELLOR**

**This is a full time, permanent position that may require some evening and/or weekend work. You must be able to be flexible with your hours.**

**SUMMARY OF POSITION**

The Counsellor will be able to provide wholistic, quality, focused, wellness support and crisis counselling to individuals/families who require short term services in a residential domestic/family violence shelter setting. You will work within a trauma informed, person-centered philosophy.

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**

- Flexibility.
- Undergraduate degree in Social Work, Counselling Certificate Program (Applied Counselling, Addictions, Mental Health)
- Minimum of 1-year supervised counselling experience, including individual and group counselling for adults, youth and children.
- Demonstrated knowledge of intimate partner violence, family violence, gender-based violence, oppression and its impact on women, men and children.
- Awareness and understanding of PTSD, addictions, and mental health.
- Ability to incorporate current best practices in the field including harm reduction, strength-based client-centered approaches and working with trauma.
- Excellent inter-personal communication, written communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent problem solving, decision-making and analytical skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a team environment and balance competing demands for time.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of community resources and ability to navigate resources to support clients.
- Up to date Criminal Record check including Vulnerable Sector
- Up to date Adult & Child Abuse registry check
- Able to meet the physical demands of the position (stairs, lifting, cleaning etc.) as per the standards of SAFE Manitoba.
- Flexible to meet the demands of a 24/7 residential care facility and be able to work days, evenings or weekends if required.
- Current CPR, Emergency First Aid
- Criminal Record with vulnerable persons and Adult/Child abuse registry check.
- Valid Drivers License and acceptable drivers abstract.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From $24.00 per hour
