**PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT**: October 2024 until July 2025, with possibility of extension based on funding
**SCHEDULE**: 25 hours/week, flexible schedule, days M-F, some evenings or weekends required
**SALARY**:$22-$27 per hour
**LOCATION**:Hybrid - remote work from home, travel to community events & meeting within the Interlake-Eastern region as needed (Selkirk, Beausejour, Sagkeeng, etc.)

The Aki Nindoondaawaa - “I Heard it From the Land” program works in combination with the Sexual Assault Recovery and Healing (SARAH) counselling program for those impacted by gender-based and sexualized violence in rural Manitoba. The Aki Nindoondaawaa Program Coordinator works to create opportunities and connections to community through land-based healing, ceremony, traditional practices, and relationships with Elders and Knowledge Keepers, in partnership with other agencies and individuals.
This position is designated as “hybrid”, with flexibility to work from home, as well as being present in communities in the Interlake-Eastern region of Manitoba; thus the successful applicant must be able to reliably travel within rural Manitoba.
**IN THIS ROLE, YOUR FOCUS WOULD BE**:
- Coordinate and guide the planning of cultural activities and events under the umbrella of the program, in collaboration with community members and agencies.
- Incorporate traditional ways of healing to benefit survivors through reconnecting with land, ceremony, and medicines.
- Maintain working relationship with agency's Knowledge Keepers and/or Elders.
- Support participants accessing program activities through debriefing and connecting to SARAH Counsellors.
- Complete appropriate participant case notes.
- Work in collaboration with existing SARAH Counsellors to further program development and expansion of Survivor’s Hope services within the region, and oversee program resource allocation including purchasing program supplies, maintaining expense records, and proposing new project budgets.
- Represent Survivor’s Hope at a wide variety collateral agencies, networks, committees, stakeholders, and communities within region to build partnerships.
- Keep clear documentation of activities and assist in compiling program reports for funders.
**WHAT YOU BRING**:
- Comprehensive knowledge, understanding and awareness of Indigenous traditions, ceremony, teachings, and practices
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Indigenous resources and an understanding of cultural needs
- Ability to grow relationships with Indigenous community members and agencies, in a good way
**ASSETS**:
- Relevant post-secondary education in human services or social services (ie: Indigenous studies, Human Rights, psychology, sociology, social work, etc.)
- Additional training certificates in ASIST, safeTALK, Mental Health First Aid, Trauma-Informed Care
- Knowledge and understanding of the _Child and Family Services Act_, _Personal Health Information Act and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act._
- Knowledge of Indigenous language(s)
- Knowledge of mental health problems and illnesses and the impacts of trauma
- Knowledge of co-occurring disorders (addictions, mental health & trauma)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong intersectional feminist, anti-oppressive and anti-racist analysis
- Demonstrated understanding of the social and systemic root causes of sexual violence and the context of increased risk of violence and differential impacts of trauma for specific groups
- Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Office Suite (word, excel, power point)
- Proficiency in online platforms including Zoom, MS Teams, and GSuite
- Ability to work independently, with indirect support, as well as contribute positively to a team
- Knowledge of local community resources would be an asset
- **Valid driver’s licence and access to reliable vehicle required**:
- **Child, adult abuse check, criminal record, and vulnerable sector checks prior to start date as well as reliable reference statements are required**
