**Position Summary**

The Town of Ingersoll is looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking individual to join the Community
Services Department in the position of Parks Manager. Reporting to the Director of VPCC, the Parks
Manager will be responsible for overseeing the effective and efficient operations of all municipal
parks buildings and installation of all Festival Lights Displays. Provide support services for the
implementation of community special events

Specifically, the supervisor will be responsible for:

the overall operation of the Parks Department i.e. administration functions, staff
supervision/evaluations, parks/equipment maintenance programs, special event park/equipment
requirements, evaluation of all park maintenance programs/services, maintenance and the
installation of the Festival of Lights Displays and Santa’s Festival Village

Ensuring the effective development and overseeing comprehensive parks and outdoor
recreation facilitation facilities maintenance programs

Planning and scheduling short and long-term maintenance tasks; ensuring work is completed
according to applicable regulations and standards and in compliance with all relevant health and
safety requirements

Recommending and formulating policies, procedures, standards and guidelines for the
maintenance and operation of the parks

Researching, monitoring, preparing, analyzing and providing recommendations regards to the
future needs or the development of new parks, playground equipment, trail development,
outdoor recreation facilities i.e. soccer fields, ball diamonds, tennis/basketball courts, floral
gardens etc

Managing a team of part-time, full-time, union and non-union parks staff to achieve optimal park
operations; carrying out all supervisory duties including, hiring, training, disciplining, scheduling,
evaluating, coaching and mentoring

Managing all associated administrative tasks including budget development and maintenance,
short and long-term forecasting, investigating and preparing requests for government funding
opportunities, monthly activity reporting, tender preparation and management, equipment/service
procurement, policy and procedure development etc.

Responding to emergency call-ins and personally performing all parks-related activities to
mitigate service interruptions, also acting as backup to the Facility manager when absent

Developing and maintaining productive working relationships with patrons and various user
groups; promoting facility use and ensuring the delivery of exceptional customer service through
the provision of safe, systematized and efficiently operating facilities.

Ensuring all parks operated in a safe and efficient environment, meet the requirement of all
standards and legislations and follow safety precautions. Responsible for the health and safety
training of all staff and records are properly documented.

Reporting to the Manager of Parks, the Parks Maintenance Worker is responsible for ensuring the various town

parks, facilities and boulevards are maintained to a high standard of safety, cleanliness and operation.

Additionally, they will assist with the set up of the Christmas Light displays.

**Qualifications
parks-related tasks in various multifaceted facilities with diverse patron/user group needs.

University or Community College graduate in a recognized forestry, horticulture or parks
management program.

Minimum five years’ experience a parks management/foreman position.

Experience in minor plumbing, carpentry, painting, mechanical and electrical repairs an asset.

Experience in the operation and maintenance of parks facilities/equipment i.e. sports fields,
tractors, trucks, lawn/riding mowers etc and playground structure safety certification.

Customer service orientation to meet and exceed patron and user group needs.

Valid class “G” province of Ontario driver’s license.

First Aid/CPR

**Salary**: Starting from $75,950.84 plus benefits and pension
