**The Manager, Trading Business Management**
- Contributes to the overall success of the SCI Wealth Management Trading Desk - the Trading Services Group (“TSG”) by ensuring individual and departmental goals and initiatives are executed in support of the team’s strategic operational objectives.
- Ensures all activities are conducted in compliance with governing regulations, and internal policies and procedures.
- Acts as a key contributor to TSG’s trading operation by supporting the Director of Trading Supervision and the Director of Fixed Income Trading manage their day-to-day operations.
- Conduct daily reconciliations and supervision reviews to manage the risk of the trading operation.
- Provides trade management and operational support to the trade desk.

**Is this role right for you? In this role, you will**:

- Provide operational support and trading supervision to the management and trading staff of TSG:

- Ensuring all business is conducted within internal and external policies, procedures, rules, and regulations by conducting supervision reviews to govern the trading activities of TSG. Escalate any concern of trader misconduct to the Director of Trading Supervision and/or Compliance.
- Pull trading statistics in a timely manner to support Wealth Compliance respond to regulatory requests.
- Managing Scotia Capital Inc.’s overnight FX risk exposure by conducting a daily reconciliation of the firm’s FX Control account.
- Assists team with finance matters and marketplace fee/rebate calculations and allocations.
- Supports TSG management by:

- Identifying control gaps in trading operations, and recommending changes to mitigate operational risk
- Acting within the defined or implied rules and regulations applied to the marketplace
- Ensuring trades are completed within the regulatory and business rules of the underlying product
- Addressing and documenting trading errors or omissions immediately once identified, escalating as appropriate
- Maintaining the highest level of integrity and ethics as it pertains to the trading operations role and the sensitivity and confidentiality of accessible information
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk

- Work in a fast-paced environment, which can contribute to a high level of mental and physical stress, due to volatile financial markets, stringent compliance oversight and regulatory requirements, managing emotional clients, multiple and often conflicting priorities, aggressive delivery timelines.
- Require flexibility beyond standard work day/ work week, and be in a role that requires longer than normal workday hours - starting at 7:30 a.m.

**Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We’d love to work with you if you have**:

- 2-5 years of industry experience.
- University degree in business, economics, engineering, or another related field.
- Relevant industry courses including Canadian Securities Course, Conduct and Practices Handbook, and Trader Training Course (nice to have).
- Sound knowledge of regulatory rules and trading market practices
- Knowledge of technology used to support trading and trading operations functions - Broadridge, IRESS, FIT, CBID, Bloomberg, Charles River and Broadridge ADP and Business Objects. Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Access, MS Windows id required.
- Understanding of Programming Languages: JavaScript, HTML, PERL,VBA, SQL is an asset - Proven ability to think and act strategically.
- Flexibility; experience working in a fast paced and dynamic trade floor environment.
- Ability to work autonomously combined with the ability to maintain close working relationships.
- Superior interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to negotiate resolutions to disputes.
- Understanding of electronic communication channels and how they play a role in client experience.
- A high degree of judgment / organizational skills and initiative.
- Good working knowledge or experience within the brokerage industry’s back-office processes, and the end-to-end workflows among the front, middle, and back offices as it impacts the client experience and possible liabilities to the firm particularly clearing and settlements.
