**Supportive Housing Worker, Leasing & Tribunal** **-** **Housing Services (Full-Time Permanent)**:
**The Role and Opportunity**:
The Canadian Mental Health Association - Toronto is looking for a **Supportive Housing Worker, Leasing & Tribunal Designate **for the Housing Services Team. The Supportive Housing Worker is responsible for the tenancy matters of CMHA Toronto’s Housing Services Program. This is done in keeping with the mission, strategic directions and client-centered focus of the Canadian Mental Health Association - Toronto. The Supportive Housing Worker is responsible for conducting new tenant leases, rental arrears, representing the agency in eviction matters, assisting the agency’s legal matters to prepare for major court cases and providing assistance and direction to/from the Program Manager and housing staff in day-today tenancy matters.

**Responsibilities**

**1) Administration**
- Act as the department sub-lease signing agent.
- Collection of rental arrears
- Consultant to the housing department regarding tenancy matters
- Represent the agency at the Landlord Tenant Board and Small Claims Court
- Provide administrative duties and support for litigation to CMHA Toronto counsel on major court proceedings
- Collect and provide administrative information involving insurance claims

**2) Direct Service**
- The** **Supportive Housing Worker** **will provide direct service to all housing clients regarding tenancy issues that may affect their ongoing housing stability. This service includes setting up rent repayment arrangements and mediated agreements to resolve housing issues.
- Provide on-call assistance to front-line staff while providing direct services to clients as required as it relates to their tenancy
- Knowledge of the Mental Health and Justice system aimed at supporting service users referred to CMHA/Toronto Housing Services
- Linkage to support services as needed
- Knowledge of the Landlord and Tenancy board/ housing matters as it relates to issuing of Notices and filing at the board
- Maintaining ongoing partnerships with various property management organizations
- Keeping accurate, up to date information on their case load available on a database
- Required to be on-call after hours, weekends and holidays (on a rotational basis)

**3) Program Administration**
- Ensure relevant program policies and procedures are in place and consistent with CMHA policies and practices
- Ensure administrative structure is in place for data collection
- Represent CMHA on external committees
- Required to attend/participate in CMHA Management Committee and other relevant CMHA committees as necessary
- Other duties as assigned by the Senior Manager of Housing Services

**Education & Experience Required**
- Post Secondary Degree/Diploma in Social Service combined with experience of Landlord and Tenancy Board filings **OR **Paralegal Degree
- A minimum of 2yrs working with service users living with mental illness while acting as a representative of the agency at the Landlord and Tenancy Board
- Knowledge of how to file Landlord Notices at the board in relation to Rental Arrears, Damages and other issues as it related to the LTB.
- Knowledge of N1, N2, N5, N7, L1, L2, L3. L4 filling processes and procedures
- Knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act and supportive Housing Act
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system, concurrent disorders and issues affecting the homeless
- Knowledge of the Ontario Support Disability Program and Ontario Works
- Familiarity with homeless outreach initiatives and the shelter system
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to foster and maintain relationships with the corporate sector and community agencies
- Ability to communicate in a second language is an asset
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Experience working with diverse communities
- ** Required to have a valid Ontario Driver’s License, access to a vehicle and insurance coverage.**
