We are in need of several part time employees to work as serving staff in our restaurant dining room. We offer a competitive wage, full tip share, staff shirts, excellent discounts & full time staff (min 25 hr per week) are eligible for sick pay and benefits which include LTD and CI.
The role includes but is not limited to:
- learning our menu top to bottom, this includes ingredients, allergens, potential modifications, questions to ask when taking orders
- all servers may work autonomously at times (start and end of day) and as such need to be comfortable serving, answering the phone, entering orders into the POS, table service, greeting customers, taking orders, entering orders, running orders, running soups, coffees & other drinks, checking on tables, providing take-away packaging as needed, completing the service (dessert/bill), doing dishes, portioning consumables, stocking items utilized by servers (drinks, crackers, takeout cutlery, etc)
- answering the phone, taking take-out orders, running take-out to the customer, liaison with couriers (Trexity, SkipTheDishes)
- bussing tables, doing dishes (all restaurant staff share this responsibility, servers & cooks but primarily falls on serving staff)
- menu knowledge required and part of training, need to know allergens, mods for gf/vegan, etc, entering customized orders
- stocking the server fridges and backups in the walk-in fridge and freezer, portioning, taking regular inventory of these items and utilizing our shopping list to assure we do not run out of any item
- cleaning routines related to the dining room, floor, work surfaces and other as needed - keeping the various fridges, freezers & dry storage areas kept neat, clean and organized using FIFO (rotate based on date received or expiry date if available)
- receiving deliveries and putting them away
We are open 730 am - 6:30 pm Mon - Fri, 9 am - 5 pm Sat & 9 am - 4 pm Sun. Once fully staffed will be open 730 am - 8 pm Mon - Fri, 8 am - 6 pm Sat & Sun hours will remain the same. Last seating typically 60 minutes before close with takeout orders accepted until 45 minutes before close for hot food and 30 minutes before close for cold food.
Serious inquiries only, we need local people that live in Winnipeg, are able to communicate effectively in English with their co-workers & customers & are able to get to and from work punctually.
Prior serving experience an asset, banquet experience does not count, breakfast/brunch preferred but can train the right person on the job (lack of prior experience will mean minimum 30 days of being a server assistant prior to actually training as a server).
