**Role Summary**:
A Registered Energy Advisor (REA), the Field Technical Service Technician (FT) ensures that enthusiastic, helpful, knowledgeable services are provided to our builder clients and industry partners. This role requires analysis, inspection and testing of homes for builders, as per the NRCan REA role requirements and service delivery guidelines. This includes, but is not limited to, blower door testing, data collection
- noting all components that will affect the energy efficiency of the house, including the mechanical equipment, windows, building envelope, insulation levels, and more.

The FT will focus on the commitment of Building Knowledge Canada to make the complex world of high-performance homes simple, clear and applicable for builders and industry stakeholders.

**Role Responsibilities**:
1. Responsible for delivering on inspections and data collection protocols relating to the following program requirements according to BKC policies, administration guidance and processes:

- EnergyStar for New Homes
- EnerGuide 15.0+
- Net Zero Home
- R2000

Ontario Building Code compliance:

- Air testing
- Data collection forms, as required

2. May be responsible for some of the following at the direction of the Manager:

- Maintain quality and transparency of BKC field inspections and data collection in line with program requirements and standards (e.g., NRCan, CaGBC, CHBA)
- Builder Client Project Management including:

- Track progress of sites through ongoing engagement with project managers and site supervisors
- Conduct site training with builder clients and trades with regards to water and air management

3. Ensure BKC health and safety policies and all associated regulations are followed at all times. Work closely with the BKC health and safety coordinator.

4. Maintain BKC field and technical equipment and tools, regular tracking, safety checks, calibration and general maintenance

**Education**:
1. EnerGuide - Registered Energy Advisor (REA) with Natural Resources Canada. (Qualified REA for EnergyStar)

2. Post-secondary degree or technical college diploma

3. CET designation or similar

The following designations would be considered and asset for the role:

- CHBA Qualified NZ REA
- EnerGuide Qualified QAD status with Natural Resources Canada
- HRAI - RASDT qualification
- Ontario BCIN designation

**Experience and Skills**:
1.Excellent knowledge of OBC and National energy codes and best practices for houses and small buildings -part 9

2. Excellent knowledge of house as a system thinking and building science concepts

3. Proven leadership skills in motivating and developing teams

4.Detail oriented with the ability to prioritize work

5. Excellent time management skills with the ability to set priorities and multi-task

6. Proficient with Hot2000, AutoCAD, Revit and Excel

7. Experienced blower door technician, with the ability to perform accurate tests, diagnose and locate hidden air leaks, and familiar with zone pressure diagnostics.

8. Experience working in the residential construction industry is an asset

**Working hours**:
Monday to Friday - Regular Business hours (8:00 am - 4:00 pm)

Occasional after hours availability for meetings, consultations, urgent phone calls and travel

**Travel Requirements**:

- Daily travel within Southwestern Ontario - must have a valid G license

**Salary**: $52,000.00-$58,000.00 per year
