**Experienced Linemen - Telecommunications**

**Job description**

WaveStar Networks is currently looking for a Telecommunications Linemen. Working as a member of the Construction Team, you will assist in the building and delivery of the infrastructure to accommodate fiber and coaxial network builds. The primary work locations will be in the Kingston and surrounding areas.

With its head office located in Richmond Hill, ON, WaveStar Networks is a Canadian company with nearly 20 years experience in providing a wide array of network infrastructure and communication system services. Among other services, it provides professional and consulting services for telecommunication/ISP communications, data center, and corporate/business/public sector customers. Its prominent customers are leading telecommunications companies in the GTA and surrounding areas, as well as customers throughout Canada.

**Responsibilities**:

- Read and interpret blueprints or job specifications to execute all work assigned safely and in accordance with Bell & Rogers specs.
- Work outdoors in various conditions to place fibre optic cables.
- Climb poles, ladders and variety of construction equipment to assist in the installation of strand & cables.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance and operation of Bucket Trucks and Cable Placers, Capstan hoists, etc.
- String Cables between structures, manholes, from poles, towers or trenches and ensure that all to proper tension.
- Clean and maintain tools and equipment.
- Accurately record and report work in progress of each project to the appropriate supervisor and communicate any issues or expected delays.
- Help with general site preparation, clean-up.
- Safely load and unload supplies and equipment from vehicles.
- Maintain site safety and traffic control, assess work environment for potential health and safety hazards.
- Adhere to CVOR rules as required.
- Work in all weather conditions throughout the year.
- Perform other duties as required.

**Qualifications**
- Minimum 2-5 years of line experience in Construction.
- Experience in telecom outside plant is an asset.
- Experience working in manholes, vaults and pedestals.
- Being able to operate equipment (mini excavator, compressors, etc.) would be an asset.
- Working around live utilities and understanding safe limits of approach.
- Ability to tow a trailer when needed.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions year-round.
- Able to safely lift and handle objects weighing 100 lbs and above.
- Must have a valid Ontario Driver’s License with a “Z” endorsement and a good driver’s abstract.
- Able to complete the necessary training for working at heights and confined spaces etc.
- Ability to climb pole and work at heights up to and exceeding 30 feet.
- Good communication skills, team player, and motivated to get the job done.
- Able to work in Kingston and surrounding areas.

**Salary**: $24.00-$30.00 per hour
