We will provide a more formal job description and compensation details prior to hiring. (Currently awaiting final government funding info for pay and benefits.) Looking for 2 full-time support worker / EA / youth care worker / BI to support a teen in the family home and community. Hours are expected to be 30-40 per week. Some flexibility for day, evening and weekends required.

The teen is friendly and enjoys chatting and sharing interests, such as computer programming, social justice, tabletop adventure games, video games, sports, minor hikes, animals and music. We are open to learning about you and your own interests.

Someone who can also help with activities of daily living, such as pitching in for meal preparation, cleaning up, managing groceries, receiving packages, helping with laundry, making appointments, supporting medical appointments...if you have ever wanted the glamour of a personal assistant for people who aren't rich and famous, now's your chance But the key here is to model household responsibilities to the teens, encourage them to take part, and show that these are things that are not unique to women/Mom.

While we will be working within an ABA framework, we do not require ABA experience and may actually do better with someone who isn't experienced with it This role is a bit more like counselling and support work., but there will be a well-known BCBA team supervising and training. We are looking for someone who is flexible, friendly, able to work in a variety of settings and contexts, and who isn't rigid in how they approach things.

This position is part of a team and there will be a lot of overlap, so that this role is sometimes 2:1, sometimes 1:1 with the parent working from home, and, when you're ready and things are working well, there may be times when it is 1:1.

Required:
3+ years of experience with complex care as a support worker, education assistant, school support worker, youth care worker, psychiatric facility worker, or similar role
Experience and/or training in Mandt (preferred) or crisis intervention
Driver's license & clear abstract
CRC for vulnerable populations
Experience with FoodSafe meal preparation & food allergy management (or a high degree of diligence)
Grade 12

Preferred:
FoodSafe preferred
First Aid preferred
Post-secondary, preferably a bachelors degree

Someone with experience with computer coding languages would be much appreciated by this teen.

This is a full-time role. We are looking for someone who could be flexible around some evenings and weekends and sometimes providing respite. As people with some medical challenges, we are also asking that workers are vaccinated against COVID and willing to take precautions as needed. We are not currently wearing masks in the home, due to the stress of doing so, but we will review if protocols change.
