Clinical Laboratory Assistant

Dynacare is currently searching for a Clinical Laboratory Assistant to join the Product and Service Development team in Brampton, Ontario.

**working Monday**
**- Friday 8am to 4pm.** This position is responsible for retrieving, sorting, preparing, and extracting biological fluid samples for routine analysis in the Product and Service Development (R&D lab). The position will also involve reagents preparation and instrument/analyzer loading, general housekeeping duties.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- List of critical duties that the incumbent is expected to perform_
- Retrieving and soring samples based on test and worksheet.
- Ensure that all samples are properly labeled and identified before testing
- Follow established protocol for the handling of samples
- Perform testing on sample as per established procedures (SOP)
- Store and discard specimens and materials according to appropriate department procedure manuals
- Prepare routine reagents as per established procedures (SOP)
- Follow Dynacare safety procedure and maintain a good housekeeping
- Monitoring of supplies and ensuring adequate quantities are maintained
- Consult with department manager to assist with non-routine problems, troubleshooting or concerns
- Operate complex instruments following department procedures independently
- Maintain quality assurance records including results calculation verification
- Perform simple non-interpretive testing procedures independently
- Ensure that all abnormal, critical and STATS specimens are processed as outlined in the department guidelines
- Responsible for the follow-up on missing samples, documentation and results as and when required
- Ensure that quality control checks are performed as required in documented work instructions
- Refer results to technologist to review if applicable
- Responsible for monitoring quality control guidelines and making appropriate corrections
- Perform routine equipment maintenance following documented procedures
- Document all maintenance performed, including minor troubleshooting following manufacturer’s instructions
- Observe and report all malfunctions in equipment and maintain all required logbooks for routine equipment
- Provide input to management for improving performance
- Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive topics as appropriate
**KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
- Knowledge, educational requirements and relative experience required to perform the job_
- Graduate of an approved laboratory assistant course or equivalent
- BSc or MLT certification would be an asset
