Opened in 1978, Bryony House is one of Nova Scotia's largest impact organizations, providing 24-hour emergency services for women, with or without children, escaping intimate partner violence. Annually, approximately 470 women and children stay with us. Our counselors manage a 24-hour distress line, offering individual and group counseling, public education, advocacy, and referrals.

**Principle Duties of the Programs Supervisor**:
**1. Client Programs Development**:

- Develop a diverse range of educational, entertaining, and wellness programs customized to meet the needs and interests of our clients.
- Connect with external service providers and volunteers to host relevant programs at Bryony House for clients.
- Collaborate with staff and clients to identify program ideas and ensure alignment with client goals.
- Establish and maintain a program schedule, ensuring a variety of engaging activities throughout the week.
- Evaluate program effectiveness and gather feedback to drive continuous improvements.

**2. Outreach Staff Oversight**:

- Supervise and support the outreach staff in effectively serving clients in the community.
- Support outreach activities, including client interactions, referrals, and program delivery.
- Foster connections with external organizations to build community ties.
- Support the development of educational materials and training to be delivered to the community.
- Support the professional development and well-being of the outreach team.

**3. Staff Training and Development**:

- Collaborate with HR and other stakeholders to identify staff training needs across various departments to ensure alignment of training initiatives with organizational goals.
- Design and develop training programs, workshops, and resources to enhance staff skills and knowledge along with the Counselling Supervisors.
- Implement training initiatives that foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

**4. Reporting and Documentation**:

- Maintain accurate records of training sessions, program activities, and outreach efforts.
- Prepare regular reports on the impact and outcomes of programs and training activities.
- Ensure compliance with organizational and funding requirements.
- Manage learning management system.

**5. Any other duties assigned by the Executive Director**

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and related experience.
- Understanding of the cycle of abuse and its impact on women and children.
- Knowledge of adult education, trauma-informed practice, and best practices in justice, equity, diversity, decolonization, and inclusion.
- Experience in crisis intervention and working with women and children affected by violence.
- Experience providing court support.
- Familiarity with navigating immigration issues.
- Proven dependability and reliability in a professional setting.
- Experience working with children of various ages (infants to teens).
- Proficiency with commonly used computer programs, such as Microsoft Word.

**Conditions Of Employment**:

- Clear criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
- Standard First Aid/CPR certification (Level C)
- Ability to complete core competency training and other training/recertification during the course of employment.
