Academic Cardiologist with Focus On Critical Care

The University of Ottawa Heart Institute (UOHI) is a large tertiary centre providing cardiovascular care to Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. The UOHI offers a full range of services including interventional cardiology, structural heart and valve disease, cardiac surgery, advanced heart failure and cardiac transplant, electrophysiology, and multi-modality imaging.

The Intensive Cardiac Care Unit (ICCU) is a high volume, high acuity 14 bed unit that provides care to critically ill cardiac patients, including invasive mechanical ventilation, CRRT and intra-aortic balloon pumps. A wide breadth of cardiac pathology is seen in the unit, including patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, cardiogenic shock, decompensated valvular heart disease, and electrical storm. The ICCU is responsible for also providing care in a step-down unit located just outside the level 3 unit. The ICCU supports a robust research program with dedicated clinical research coordinators and is leading multiple clinical trials focused on critically ill cardiac patients.
