Part Time Professor, Artisan Distilling

Applications are invited to serve as Part-Time Professor in the Artisan Distilling program within the School of Wine, Beer and Spirits at Niagara College. This position will commence January 2024 at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus.

Part-time faculty within the Artisan Distilling program work as part of a program team of full
- and part-time faculty and technical support staff within our classrooms, labs and commercial Teaching Distillery. This team collaboratively provides a superior and supportive learning experience to students enrolled in an eight-month graduate certificate program.

This position seeks someone with an understanding of analytical chemistry and sensory evaluation of spirits to teach six hours a week in a science laboratory setting for DIST9203 - Quantitative Spirit Analysis. The course outline is available here.

**Required qualifications**:

- Undergraduate degree in chemistry or a related field of study
- Minimum three (3) years of professional practice within analytical or quality control aspects of commercial operations or research settings, spirit production an asset.
- Demonstrated collaborative communication style open to continuous improvement and feedback.
- Demonstrated ability to operate relevant laboratory technology and conduct experimental design procedures to industry standards
- Comfort and competence with laboratory techniques and equipment
- Additional professional certifications or experience in related lines of business (e.g. WSET, PEng., etc.)
- Product knowledge and experience with beverage alcohol production
- Evidence of success in classroom teaching or mentoring of others
