**Background**

Endaayaan Awejaa is a start-up non-profit organization that is dedicated to providing all youth and families with safe places to heal and build solid foundations for their future. Our mission statement is Maamwi Bmosedaa which means Walking in Unity. We strive to Walk in Unity together with our youth, their families and our local community. The pillars in which we incorporate into our work are arts & culture, reconciliation, education and harm reduction.

Currently, Endaayaan Awejaa has opened their doors at 187 Main Street West in downtown
North Bay. We have been providing support for youth and families who may need assistance with groceries, closure, resources, connection to culture, or basic hygiene needs. We have created ongoing workshops to promote healthy living and engage youth towards a path that caters to their strengths and sets them up for success. Our overall goal is to create an Indigenous youth home that will include our culture teachings, counselling, mentorship, workshops and activities.

**The Position**

The project's function will be to foster an inclusive environment by creating a placement for an Indigenous youth in northern Ontario that benefits the community spiritually, emotionally, mentally and physically. The intern will be a front-line worker for youth engagement on a local level. Employment for an Indigenous youth member in the community will be provided to assist EA with programming needs and objectives. We are in need of a youth to help assist EA in workshop development, as well as assist in program delivery to our registered clients in Nipissing First Nation, North Bay & area. As we are still developing capacity to host workshops and events, the employed individual will assist in a variety of tasks that will help move EA forward in the community. The assistance in outreach for participants in the area, research for sustainable resources to operate programming in-space and online, working in tandem with other volunteers and other daily tasks as required will be the functionality of this intern.

**Position Duties**
- Work under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer and Director of Projects &
Grants
- Work in tandem with other Endaayaan Awejaa Volunteers, Clients & Members
- Following listed duties and completing weekly reports of tasks completed
- Assist in reaching out to Indigenous youth in the community
- Develop & coordinate workshops and events with other volunteer team members
- Attend partnership development meetings and document information
- Assist in monitoring drop-in centre during business hours
- Develop workshop materials as required: i.e writing materials, notes, etc
- Assist in promotional advertising development with team members
- Ability to edit and write documents, or willingness to learn to write
- Ensure supplies for events is organized
- Attend events happening within the space
- Participate in the community outreach initiative
- Assisting drop-in centre youth with resources
- Attend meetings and assist in note-taking
- Assist in maintaining a healthy and clean work environment
- Other tasks as required

**Requirements**:
Metis or Inuit.
2020 Mandate.
Education in Business Administration, Community Planning and/or Social Work considered an asset
Vulnerable sector check must be submitted prior to beginning employment
Valid driver’s license considered an asset
Time management skills
First Aid Certification is considered an asset
Must be available Monday - Friday from 10:00AM - 6:00PM
