Junior Purchaser

The junior purchaser will manage and assist in the purchasing process, including planning, purchasing, follow-up with vendors and carriers, documentary receiving goods, and other duties related to procurement.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have the ability to develop strong vendor partnerships and negotiate effectively with suppliers on product costs, freight, MOQs, lead time, and quality issues.
You will need strong organizational skills to execute procurement strategies and maintain a correct inventory.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Assist in the procurement planning by using the min/max method to determine quantities to purchase.
- Assist in the procurement process preparing quote requests, coordinate with vendors, compare quotes, place purchase orders, and follow up with vendors and carriers regarding deliveries.
- Administrative receiving of goods. Documentary receiving and coordination with accounting to enter them on the ERP.
- Maintain and keep the open purchase order and freights reports up to date.
- Assist in expediting the required materials to support ongoing production from vendor assigned.
- Coordinate with the warehouse about inbound freight.
- Prepare requests for quotes for truck and ocean freight and send them to the warehouse.
- Assist in import clearance by providing custom declarations for shipment transactions.
- Coordinate with production, customer service, production scheduling, warehouse, other buyers, and receiving to support production to avoid line shortages or missed shipments to customers.
- Process Spot Buy and Blanket Purchase orders as per the Purchase Requisition Procedure.
- Obtain the required USMCA Certificates annually from the suppliers to preserve the USMCA duty rates.
- Data entry of locations and quantities for goods.
- Ensure that accurate and timely information is provided to both vendors and the Senior Management Team.
- Ensure that all Logistics Purchasing Procedures are strictly observed.
- Assist in maintaining the Non-Conformance Records up to date.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Degree, diploma or certificate in Supply Chain Management or other applicable area preferred.
- 2 years of purchasing experience.
- Knowledge of purchasing planning with Min/Max method.
- Have experience dealing with both North American / foreign based supply chain channels.
- Knowledge of global imports process on freight rates and conditions.
- Exceptional organizational skills with a high consideration to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills including written, verbal with the ability to persuade others, listening, and customer service skills with the ability to effectively communicate with and work well with others in order to manage projects, meetings, meet vendor needs, etc.
- Embodies strong traits such as decision-making, problem solving and possessing good judgment.
- Ability to project a calm and professional demeanor regardless of the type of environment (calm or fast paced) or type of clientele.
- Driven and highly self-motivated.
- Strong industry knowledge preferred.
- Adept at time management and able to work with finite deadlines.
- The ability to work independently as well as in a group environment.
- Trustworthy, honest, respectful, and flexible.
- Must be able to be entrusted with confidential information.
**WORK CONDITIONS AND ABILITIES**
- Schedule is M - F 8:00am - 4:30pm. Schedule may vary based on business demands and will require a combination of office hours as well as work performed after hours and/or weekends due to location of suppliers.
- Must have clear criminal record check.
- Valid driver’s license and Passport for International travel.
