**Location - **North Campus Edmonton. This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person.

International Recruitment is responsible for the recruitment of international students to the University of Alberta. International recruitment is a highly competitive area and international recruitment needs to offer applicants an exceptional experience when considering the University of Alberta.

**Position**

**Duties**

International Student Recruitment_ _
- Meets registered student recruitment targets for region as per the International Recruitment Work Plan and country plans
- Coordinates activity with overseas contractors.
- Plans and implements strategies for direct recruitment of international students which may include representing the University of Alberta at international education or college fairs, visits to individual schools and/or other relationship-building activities.
- Delivers presentations about U of A and studying in Canada.
- Meet with students and school counsellors in order to provide information about studying at the University of Alberta.
- Advises prospective students about admission criteria and specific program requirements.
- Performs preliminary evaluation of students admissibility.
- Conducts follow-up with contacts made at institutions and with prospective applicants.
- Coordinates visits of prospective students, parents and/or school counsellors visiting the U of A which may include setting up meetings with various department offices, arranging a campus or city tour, or other hosting activities.
- Provides information to applicants on support services available to international students.
- Refers newly admitted international students to International Student Specialists, Faculty Advisors or others, to provide support as needed.
- On occasion, may be asked to assist in and travel to, other regions.

Planning and Research_ _
- Participates in regional planning exercises under the direction of the Director, International Recruitment & Transnational Programs and the Regional Manager (Asia) to set goals and priorities for activities for the region.
- Researches current and emerging markets for international student recruitment in the region and assesses key competitor activities.
- Analyzes opportunities for recruitment and advises on best practices to employ in the region.
- Makes recommendations on effective marketing strategies.
- Prepares reports on research findings.
- Provides input into the development of brochures, newsletters and promotional literature.

Trip Planning and Logistics
- Arranges visits to foreign schools to promote the U of A.
- Makes arrangements with Canadian embassies, consulates, recruitment organizations which U of A work with, and U of A staff and/or representatives based overseas to support recruitment activities.
- Completes registration for recruitment fairs and other activities.
- Develops schedule for recruitment trips.
- Researches and books international flights, accommodation and ground transportation for recruitment trips.
- Prepares promotional materials for shipping.
- Prepares presentations from established templates.
- Assists in evaluating effectiveness of various recruiting activities.
- Coordinates recruitment trips that are joined by faculty representatives.

The Coordinator is responsible for two types of advising:

- Information giving - Initial interactions with no intended/expected follow-up. It extends to wayfinding and showing location of information on a website
