**As the** **_Community Information Coordinator_** **you will**:

- Provides leadership and guidance through an integrated team approach in the execution of strategic priorities for the Community Services Department.
- Provides leadership and guidance in the development of strategic issues management; project management including public engagement practices; communications and special event planning.
- Identifies emerging issues and proactively and effectively manages issues to preserve an accurate and positive image of the Community Services Department.
- Acts as the Department liaison between Community Services divisions and Corporate Communications with respect to communications, special event management, and Office of Public Engagement.
- Provides leadership, motivation and direction to divisional staff assigned to special projects and other work managed by the Community Information Officer fostering effective team work, high standards of work quality and organizational performance, continuous learning and encouraging innovation in others.
- Provides project management expertise to facilitate the planning, organizing and managing of resources to the successful completion of project goals and objects with specific start and completion dates.
- Participates as a member of the Department’s Divisional Management Team and the City of Winnipeg Emergency Public Information Team.
- Provides support and cross coverage to the Department’s Administrative Coordinator, Research and Marketing as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**Your education and qualifications include**:

- Degree in Public Administration, Communications or Public Relations, Management Studies or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (both oral and written), with strong facilitation and collaborations skills.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and execute special events and have knowledge of special event protocols.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovative and successful issues management strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with elected officials, administration, the public and media.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work with mínimal supervision.
- Ability to deal discreetly with highly confidential matters.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Community Services Department’s structure and divisions.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake research and prepare departmental reports as required.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, coach and mentor junior staff.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively coordinate and/or lead cross-functional work groups to accomplish set goals based on a working knowledge of project management theory and practice would be an asset.
- Experience with the Freedom of Information & Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), and all relevant by-laws and legislation.
- Experience with Records Management and an understanding of all relevant by-laws would be an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the ADKAR model of change management would be considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a political and public management environment with all levels of government, private sector, and community stakeholders.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the organization’s political and administrative structure and processes.
