The Food and House Care Worker at Chrysalis House is responsible for purchasing of food, assisting in organizing food preparation activities and ensuring the cleanliness of Chrysalis House. The Food and House Care Worker provides service in accordance with the WOCRC Vision, Mission, and the Health Equity and Inclusion lens.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Ensure property and building cleanliness by:

- Attending to day-to-day interior and exterior household cleanliness needs
- Identifying and reporting day-to-day building concerns to the Team Manager, such as repairs, appliances, overall appearance and general safety of the facility;
- Liaison with the Maintenance Worker as required

Ensuring cleanliness of Chrysalis House by:

- Maintaining high standards for a sanitary food system and food storage system
- Transitioning bedrooms between clients in accordance to the Bed Bug Screening Protocol
- Complying with Occupational Health & Safety Standards
- Supervising the external cleaning service

Organizing food preparation activities:

- Complying with Food Safe Handlers regulations
- Planning and preparation with residents for meals of different faith, cultural and dietary needs
- Preparing weekly grocery list
- Preparing evening and special occasion meals
- Ensuring kitchen area is cleaned after all meals
- Ensuring the cleaning and organizing of the refrigerator, freezer, cupboards and pantry
- Conducting inventory of the pantry and storage rooms

Provide service to residents by:

- Providing new residents with an orientation to the house including use of washing machines, dryers, stoves and microwaves
- Providing ongoing orientation of Food Safe Handling practices.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

**Hours of Work**:

- Monday to Thursday 10:00am-6:00pm

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
- Knowledge and experience in menu planning and cooking
- Certification in Food Safe Handling
- Working knowledge of Canada Food Guide
- Some knowledge of Violence Against Women
- Demonstrated ability to serve the needs of diverse communities

**LANGUAGE COMPETENCIES**

Ability to communicate fluently in English - spoken and written

**COMPUTER COMPETENCIES**
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products
- Familiarity with Data Management Systems

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: From $46,108.00 per year

Expected hours: 28 per week
