Job Description: Automotive Controller

Position Overview: As the Automotive Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of our luxury used car dealership. You will manage all aspects of bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and financial reporting. Your expertise in accounting, familiarity with the automotive industry, and knowledge of PBS (or similar dealership software) will be critical in ensuring accurate financial records and compliance. This role requires excellent organizational and leadership skills to effectively manage multiple buildings and a team of financial professionals.

**Responsibilities**:
Financial Management:

- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate recording of transactions, reconciliation of accounts, and compliance with financial regulations.
- Manage the general ledger, including preparation of journal entries, adjustments, and month-end/year-end closing activities.
- Monitor cash flow, prepare budgets, and provide financial analysis and reporting to senior management.
- Review and analyze financial statements, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to optimize financial performance.

Bookkeeping and Accounts Management:

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
- Review and process vendor invoices, ensure proper coding, and manage payments within established timelines.
- Oversee customer billing and collections processes, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing and follow-up on outstanding payments.
- Coordinate with sales and service departments to reconcile transactions and resolve discrepancies.

Payroll Administration:

- Manage payroll processes, including timesheet review, calculation of wages, and compliance with applicable labor laws.
- ENSURE acurate and timely payment of employee wages, taxes, and benefits.
- Stay up-to-date with payroll regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements to ensure compliance.

Team Management and Leadership:

- Supervise and mentor a team of financial professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, promoting teamwork and professional growth.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including senior management, vendors, and financial institutions.

PBS (or Similar Dealership Software) Administration:

- Utilize PBS or other dealership software to manage inventory, track sales, and generate financial reports.
- Ensure accurate and efficient utilization of the software, providing training and support to staff as needed.
- Collaborate with IT and software vendors to troubleshoot issues and optimize system performance.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA designation is a plus).
- Proven experience as an Automotive Controller or in a similar financial management role within the automotive industry.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and dealership operations.
- Proficiency in dealership software such as PBS, CDK Drive, or Reynolds & Reynolds.
- Expertise in bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, financial reporting, and payroll administration.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound financial decisions.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a collaborative and motivational approach.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial operations.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant financial software

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- 3+ years of bookkeeping experience
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on financial reporting and analysis
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines
- Ability to work well under pressure and under deadline pressure
