The Esquimalt Farmers Market Society (EFM) exists to provide a marketplace that serves as a community gathering point for relationship-building, access to healthy local food, and equitable sustainability. EFM is an award-winning market with deep roots in the Esquimalt community and is looking forward to growing its presence and increasing access to local food in the coming market season.

**Wage**:$25.40/hr

**Contract Date**:March 18th, 2024 to September 15th, 2024.

**Hours**:Average 18 hours weekly, part-time.

**Required Availability**:

- 1:00pm - 8:30pm Thursdays (April - September 15)
- 1:00pm - 8:30pm Mondays (June 19 - September 4)

The EFM Market Coordinator facilitates the day-to-day operation of the market during its regular season (starting March 18th, 2024 to September 15th, 2024), and assists the Executive Director with other tasks as outlined below. As a representative of the Esquimalt Farmers Market, your role is to positively represent the society to the vendors and the community in a professional manner.

The position is based on an 18 hour work week with the require available times listed above. The additional 2 hours per week may be worked at any point during the week as long as the administration tasks of tracking market data may be completed at that time. Overtime may be payable if approved in advance by the Executive Director.

The EFM Market Coordinator executes a twice-weekly market event, upholds internal and external regulations, supports vendors on-site, oversees and collaborates with the EFM team and the Executive Director with other tasks as outlined below (Key Roles and Responsibilities).

**Key Roles and Responsibilities**:

- Reports directly to the Executive Director
- Attends all market dates
- Enforces adherence to EFM Policies and Procedures and other external regulations.
- Oversees onsite market day, including:

- transportation of market equipment to and from SeaCan,
- setup and teardown for the EFM table and vendor stalls,
- marking of table locations,
- onsite signage,
- assisting vendors in adhering to market day map,
- managing onsite vendor queries and relations,
- managing public queries and relations,
- overseeing entertainment including sound equipment and on-site performances,
- managing onsite equipment, materials and supplies,
- Onsite waste management,
- and other market-day related duties as required.
- Collects and tracks Market data, including but not limited to # of visitors/market, weekly vendor sales, and other survey information, as directed by the Executive Director.
- Develops/maintains procedural documents related to the tasks listed above to ensure smooth succession planning, as directed by the Executive Director.
- Always acts professionally, both internally as a team member and externally.
- Miscellaneous tasks assigned on an as needed basis by the Executive Director.

**Mandatory Qualifications/Certification**:

- Valid First Aid Level 1
- Valid Food Safe or Market Safe
- The ability to walk long distances and lift up to 50 lbs
- Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Record Check

**Ideal Qualifications**:

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Experience in market or event planning and execution
- Strong crisis management and conflict resolution skills
- Attention to detail and skills to uphold internal and external regulations
- Strong problem solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interest in local food systems, food justice, incubating small businesses
- Willing to work within anti-racist and anti-oppressive frameworks and actively engage in ongoing learning about these frameworks

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract, Seasonal
Contract length: 6 months

**Salary**: $25.40 per hour

Expected hours: 16 - 20 per week
