**Duties and Responsibilities**

The role of people and information includes the following responsibilities:

- Hiring, managing, and supervising HR and Information, Emergency and OH&S, department staff.
- Ensuring HR policies are followed, and that confidential HR information is protected.
- Ensuring Emergency planning and Occupational Health and Safety are priorities.
- Supporting recruiting and retention activities for Saulteau.
- Overseeing the management and administration of the HRIS.
- Managing occupational health and safety, as well as emergency planning and management.
- Providing oversight and recommendations on benefits and pension plans.
- Identifying and reporting on funding options for new hires available through Government and Industry.
- Overseeing all internal and external communications, ensuring messages are clear, consistent and relevant;
- Supporting the Nation with its communications activities, including coordinating Band Generals and special events;
- Ensuring all IT, records and information are secure and well protected.
- Working closely with department managers to determine IT maintenance and growth needs;
- Providing oversight and recommendations on IT services contract; and
- Ensuring a positive image and professional working relationship for SFN across all stakeholder groups.

**Qualifications**

Education
- Diploma in Human Resources, Business or Information Systems or five years of relevant work experience.

Experience
- Must have experience managing a team.
- Preference will be given to those with experience in a First Nations environment.
- Well-developed problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Must possess a high level of moral judgment for handling confidential information.

**Work Conditions**
- Work is performed primarily in the band office with hours of work set as 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursdays, and part days Fridays.
- Travel may be required within SFN community.
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
