Food Program Assistant

**The Position**

The position of Food Program Assistant is an opportunity to support the food coordination plan for Nation children (ages 5 and up) in the Summer Fun program. This position will assist the Food Service Coordinator to ensure participants have access to healthy food options while in the program. This position will be under the management of the Wellness Centre Manager, Education Manager and the general supervision of the Child Wellness Coordinator and other program leads.

**The position is from July 2, 2024 - August 30, 2024. Hours are from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm (Monday - Friday).**
- Assist the Food Service Coordinator in creating a weekly meal plan and shopping list for the Summer Fun program.
- Complete weekly grocery shops for the Summer Fun program.
- Prepare breakfast and snack options for 4 days of the Summer Fun program per week for the 6-week.
- Manage kitchen area during programming and assist participants with food-related needs that arise.
- Manage kitchen clean up.
- Keep an inventory of kitchens at Summer Fun program spaces to maintain kitchen supplies and ensure food is not wasted or thrown out.
- Deep cleaning of fridges and kitchen cupboards weekly.
- Attend team meetings as requested.
- Perform all other tasks within the scope of the position.

**Qualifications, Skills and Abilities**:

- Minimum age requirement at the time of intake: 15 years old.
- Must be willing and able to pass a criminal record check.
- Food Safe Certification.
- First Aid Certification is an asset.
- Experience providing food service coordination in a recreational or educational setting is an asset.
- Must be available for work between Monday and Friday.
