**Purpose**:
Under the Direction of the Associate Director, Student Success, the Advisor, Education and Exploration, provides support to current students and alumni within the school in gaining relevant employment by acting as the lead for the development, deployment, promotion, and recommendation of a virtual Career Services Online portal for relevant and timely resources, including tools that will aid in job searching, optimizing the interview process and self-assessment tools. Incumbent has primary responsibility for supporting the on-line AI tools. The incumbent supports in person services for the career services function such as workshops, events, career counselling etc. As directed, the incumbent assists with budget planning that support career services systems, events, and activities. Tracks and monitors budgets to avoid over expenditures.The Advisor conducts research and analyses of data to determine career opportunities and emerging jobs. Leverages their market research and data analysis to supplement the virtual resources by offering coaching to students with regards to the identification of relevant roles, job search skills, self-marketing tools and development of job leadsThe Advisor provides Student Success Information to students and alumni. Services include student and alumni advising, career coaching including editing of resumes and editing/creating of other career-related written documentation to support job searches for students and alumni.The Advisor is the first point of contact for current and potential recruiters on all aspects of the recruiting process for current students & alumni to become future employees and assists other university staff in providing first-class exceptional service levels to recruiters. The incumbent coordinates job postings, organizes and assists with specific events, and researches additional opportunities.

**Education**:
Undergraduate University Degree or an equivalent of 4 years recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. A Career and Work Counsellor/Career Development Practitioner diploma or comparable 1-year post graduate education in career development. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.

A. Demonstrated experience with identifying, designing, and implementing career strategies, best practices, and programsB. Knowledge of job search strategies, methods, and useC. Demonstrated experience and knowledge in developing workshops, including conducting research and designing presentations using adult education principles.D. Facilitating career and job search skills development (e.g., advising students on job search and career development skills, developing, and delivering job search and career development skills workshops and webinars, etc.) preferably working with students and new graduates in a fast-paced post-secondary environment.E. Close attention to detail and accuracy is essential.F. Advanced skills in Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, OutlookG. Proficient and able to adapt to new and emerging multi-media platforms and programs as needed.H. Ability to maintain on-line employer and student databases, job postings, interview scheduling and statistical reports with on-line recruiting software.I. Highly developed interpersonal skills, effective listening and advising skills, demonstrated superior oral and written communication and presentation skills, excellent analytical skills,J. Demonstrated relationship building and time management skills.K. Understanding of the use of social media for job searchingL. Familiarity with e-learning technologies such as Moodle and ability to create multimedia pieces an asset.M. Excellent organizational skills including the ability to multi-task and prioritize competing demands. Demonstrated judgment and decision-making skills. Strong initiative. **Additional Notes**:
Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm with frequent weekends and evening work.
