Why is this role important?
- The Digital Content Specialist helps develop and execute content strategies around our analytic work. They aim to tell engaging stories and create compelling digital content that helps enable health care system leaders to make improvements to Canada’s health care systems. The Digital Content Specialist works alongside the organization’s many content-focused teams to develop impactful and meaningful content for a variety of CIHI channels, including CIHI.ca and the organization’s social media channels. The Digital Content Specialist also works extensively on development and enhancement of content for CIHI’s digital and social channels.
- What you'll do
- 1. Advises and collaborates with teams across CIHI to develop and execute content strategies for priority analytic products, collaborating with both research and delivery teams to coordinate materials around analytic releases of varying sizes.
- 2. Develops communication strategies and recommendations, creates and posts impactful and meaningful content to social media channels using a wide variety of tools and tactics, including video, photography, audio, graphics, and writing.
- 3. Creates high-quality photographs, video and audio content for use on social media channels.
- 4. Stays on top of latest social media and digital communications trends and incorporates on an ongoing basis.

- Works closely with the Digital Communications Lead, the communications team and other groups across the organization team as a writer, helping with the standardization of content on cihi.ca as well as creating clear and compelling new content.
- 6. Provides advice and assistance to analytical team members around best practices for communication and user-focused writing, as needed.
- 7. Ensures there is strong alignment across the organization around analytic work and the approach taken to release it.
- 8. Provides regular status updates to the Digital Communications Lead.
- What you'll bring to the table
- A university degree in Journalism, Communications or a related field - or equivalent experience - is required.
- 3+ years’ experience in a communications or journalism role where content writing was a key element of your job.
- Experience and advanced understanding of social media, with expertise on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram.
- Advanced writing skills with experience developing long
- and short-form digital content.
- Ability to take high-quality photographs, as well as create video and audio content for social media.
- Working knowledge of the Canadian health care space.
- Ability to adapt to a continuously and rapidly changing environment.
- Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to multitask.
- Strong collaboration skills, in particular around problem solving.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and engagement skills across all levels of the organization.
- Sound judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Understanding of UX, personas and the value of developing content to suit specific user needs.
- Experience with podcasting an asset.
- Superior Microsoft Office skills mandatory.
- Fluency in French an asset.
