**Purpose of Position**

Summer Camps Assistants will work closely with the Senior Manager of Education and Public Engagement, the Community Engagement Manager, and the Museum’s Educators to assist with the planning, preparation, and delivery of programming that fosters creative skills in children and youth through the arts and the Museum’s unique Collections.

**Program Stream**: Canada Summer Jobs Placement

**Schedule**: 8 weeks (Monday-Friday)

**Duration**: June 24, 2024-August 16, 2024 (35 hours/week)

**Hourly Rate**: $18/hr

**Key Responsibilities**
- Supporting the design, implementation, and evaluation of Summer Camp programs for children and youth aged 6-12.
- Researching and implementing developmentally appropriate recreational activities for campers during breaks, including games and art activities that sustain continued camper engagement.
- Creating an inclusive and welcoming environment where campers can learn and experiment with various artmaking materials and practices.
- Maintaining a safe learning environment for campers by following all health and safety protocols.
- Providing mentorship and support to all campers.
- Setting up and preparing materials as directed.
- Communicating positively and professionally with parents, guardians, caregivers, and volunteers.
- Working closely and collaboratively with Museum Educators who are leading the camps to finalize project details, schedules, lesson plans, and daily responsibilities.
- Assisting with the Summer Camp feedback and evaluation process as well as performing inventory audits at the end of the season.
- Other responsibilities as assigned

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- Currently enrolled in a college or university program in the following areas: Art History, Studio Arts, Museum Studies, Cultural Management, Education, or a related field.
- A Canadian citizen or permanent resident, or applicants with refugee status in Canada (non-Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible).
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment.
- Previous experience in the arts and culture sector and/or working with children and youth in a community or education program is considered an asset.
- Highly organized team players who are outgoing, energetic, and eager to lead a variety of camp activities and games.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Eager to participate in a culture of learning, mentoring, and sharing.
- Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word and Excel.
- First Aid and CPR certification is considered an asset.
